Does anyone have any recommendations on a good camp site in/near  Thetford????
Preferably beside the forest??
I want to take Pete and the kids and 2 dogs at Easter.

Sorry I don't have any suggestions, but hubby and I where just discussing this very subject, although I'm looking to go in May. :-)

I'll let you know if I find anything

Hi, couple of links for you, 1st and last are closest to Thetford. It depends a bit if you have your own 'facilities' as Thorpe seems not to have any  I guess if you have a caravan you would but not with a tent.
The only site I have been to (not to stop) is Thorpe but it seemed pretty good.

General area is great round Thetford as you have all the forest for the dogs with virtually no lead restrictions, Santon Downham is not far - more forest walks plus great spot for dogs to paddle/swim in the river there, one patch practically has a beach to get in. You also have 'Go Ape' just up the road if you/kids have a head for heights.
Shout if I can give you any more info.

We only have a tent I'm afraid we are now thinking of going to the New forest.

Its right by the beach and part of the beach is doggy friendly.   The pinewoods (bit like Thetford forest but sandy!!) is also doggy friendly.  Facilties are really good on the site and a few activities to do with Sam and James.  You could also try your hand at gillying!!  Plenty of pubs, a few shops, fish and chips, chinese and a couple of other restaurants and cafes etc.  There is also Holkham Hall (which you can actually reach walking through the Pinewoods) and a huge estate to walk around etc as well as a great beach there too (again you can walk along Wells beach and join up with Holkham one!).

Cromer is only 22 miles away as is Sheringham, Fakenham is 10 miles away for more shops etc.

Am I selling it to you yet??!!! :-D :-D  (Can you tell I lived there for 20 years!  I might even bump into you if I go and see my mum and dad!)
