has anyone gone down this route to have a blood test to find if your bitch in whelp.

if so what day to take blood
how long for the results.

When my bitch had hers it took about 10 mins for the results the vet said the later on in pregnacy the clearer as there were more hormones but i think the earliest was somthing like 5 or 6 weeks after mating.

I have used the Relaxin blood test a number of time and would use them again. Have found that it is best used at around 28days ..have used it at earliest point listed in manufacturers info (about 22 days off top of my head) but got a false negative, retest showed pregnancy and she had 10 pups. It was the only  time I have had a false negative.

I have heard of that relaxin is a good test to use and as said above to be used after day 28 or can give a faulse positive. Ive used idexx for blood test twice with the same bitch and both time come back inconclusive, they couldnt figure it out either way. so I would be tempted to steer toward the relaxin test.

By 5 to 6 weeks you can usually tell whether the bitch is in whelp..

An experienced person probably could tell if a bitch was in whelp by 5 or 6 weeks but my vet tried to tell me my dog was having a phantom pregnancy and that she couldnt feel any puppies it was only when we took her back and got a blood test that we found out she was actually pregnant.
