i know this has been covered before but i spoke to the vet today and he said the vac for lepto has to be done annualy cos its a dead vacinne and the other jabs are only every 3 years? mine always seem to have at least 2 vacs yearly and 3 every 3rd year? is there point in titre testing if you have to go every year for lepto?

There is no point in testing for lepto, as it will come up negative. I had it done. My dogs now get vacced with lepto yearly (my vet had two cases of lepto in our area last year for the first time ever, so I won't take the chance on that), but titred for everything else.

My dogs are always titre tested, but I don't vaccinate for lepto as its the one that causes the most problems with side effects and it only covers a few of the many strains and I have found it only actually covers for about 3-6months max.
I have lost two dogs to autoimmune disease through vaccination and am about to post about vaccination and titre testing in general in a moment.  I have actually just got off the phone from my vet and will post what she said in my post but one of the things is they are seeing a lot more auto immune disease linked to vaccination.

So I wont make a fool of myself when I approach my vet about titre testing, how do you pronounce it. Is it TITER, or TEETER  or do you use the R?
- By bevb [in] Date 02.03.09 21:04 UTC
I prounounce it tie ter
- By tina s [gb] Date 02.03.09 21:09 UTC
my vet said teeter

You say teeter, I say tie ter, lets call the whole thing off (lol)

LOL don't think it really matters its like lots of words are pronounced differently in different parts of the country, they all mean the same though.

I always imagined you said it with a french accent :-)
