Some of my double glazed windows are starting to mist up. The windows (UPVC) were fitted 14 years ago. Do any of you have any experience of replacing misted units? Was wondering how the cost compares to that of replacement windows? Hopefully much cheaper 'cos I can't afford to replace them again.

Have also seen a firm advertising that it can fit a valve into the existing unit which is supposed to be greener in so much as the glass doesn't need to be thrown away and go into landfill. They claim to be 50% cheaper than replacement units.

Hi unfortunately it means the seals have gone :( I have no idea about the green valve thing, all i know is that youwill need replacement sealed units that are very easily popped out and replaced if you have upvc. (just the beading/glass comes out, the frame etc stays put so much cheaper than actual new windows :)

My experience is that the big companies try to replace everything, but if you contact a small local man, they are more likely to be happy to replace.  In Somerset it was about £60 per panel.  :)

my dh is a window fitter and says you will need to replace all your blown units just the glass you should be looking into paying about £40 sqm for your glass

General the glass section within UPVC windows are just double glazed units so the unit is replaced within the window unit quite easily.   You can't replace one side of the glass if that makes sense as they are specially sealed sections.
