Topic Dog Boards / Feeding / Whopping 19% price increase on Burgess 'Lamb & Rice'
- By Beardy [gb] Date 01.03.09 20:29 UTC
Just bought a bag of above at cost of £24.46. In December last year I bought 2 bags, they cost me £20.54. How on earth can a company justify a price increase of 19% - especially when many of us are tightening our belts? I have emailed them asking the question. Just wanted to warn any other possible buyers. This food suits my GSD. I have tried a few over the years & am very happy with the product, just wish I could ask for a 19% pay rise, somehow I don't think i would get it, do you?

I use Burgess too and certainly the price has gone up a little. However for the past two or three months I've been paying £22.99 for the Sensitive formula. I bought some yesterday at my local independent pet food store and it's still £22.99. I know it's more expensive at Pets at Home though.

I buy three bags a month and my supplier is obviously glad of my custom because every few months, he finds me a free gift. I've had a fleece blanket, a ball flinger, several bags of treats and yesterday he gave me a lovely green towel. Nice eh? :)

I used to pay around £18 for the big sack of sensitive.  Like nursey, I have a large breed dog that thrives on it. I'm paying about £24 now, but it's not just Bugess is it?  The feed I give to my toy breeds is more than £10 extra a sack, different manufacturer.  There won't be many pet food suppliers that aren't increasing prices.

We went for a drive out yesterday and popped into pets at home , i have never bought food from there as i get mine at the pet wholesalers.
I could not believe the mark up they put on dog food. I use pro plan and i get mine for £30, In Pets at home it's £45.99 nearly had a heart attack.
A box of pedigree markies was £4.80 only, 98p in wholesalers, just goes to show you the mark up, so glad that i have a card for the wholesalers.
I do feel for everyone that has to pay full retail price.

ive noticed Burgess seem to put their prices up all the time.about 2 years ago i was paying £11.49 a for a sack of adult, but now its £16 on average.this seems an unjustified incrase,:-(

It's £20.50 on http://www.feedem.co.uk but you'd need to pay for delivery, unless you can persuade a friend to help make your order up to £45 (max 30kg delivery so you couldn't buy 3 sacks of Burgess).

Beardy, I joined their breeder plan last year at Cruft's.  A young guy on the stand was so excited as he had been working on the recently launched website.  I chatted about the sensitive and the puppy feed.  After a long chat, he asked me if I would be interested in logging onto the new site, and placing an order while there. He did me a good deal!  So, worth chatting them up if you visit the stand!   :-)  Jean

Did exactly the same as you Bob, thankyou. Wasn't sure that I could order 2 bags & treats, wondered if it would be over the weight limit. Thanks for the advice, Feedem is now in my favourites!
