I think Vince is right. We should be writing in telling these people that we do care very deeply for our dogs, and that we all take health testing very seriously. Lets tell them in a well thought out and very sensible way exactly what we are doing! We do health test, we do care for dogs often putting their welfare before ours. It is one way we can show the wider world that we do care for our dogs, and we are aware of the health issues, maybe somebody out there might just listen? I will be writing to all the papers, will you join us?

Vinces email below

PEDIGREE DOG OWNERS SHOULD FIGHT BACK....says OUR DOGS newspaper.

A call to fellow Pedigree Dog Owners.

Jemima Harrison is at it again. Go to the Times online.

..........look at this and reply if you can....with OUR SIDE!

That's if you agree there is another viewpoint.....you wouldn't think it if you read the British press!

I want to get as many dog people emailing the Times (or any other paper for that matter) with our side...I am fed up of people just printing the narrow, one sided, cleverly edited or written opinions of Jemima, or Beverley Cuddy or whoever.

Why do the British Press only seem to think that Jemima Harrisons opinion and dubious programme are correct?

Up until last August, no one had even heard of Jemima Harrison and now she gives the impression of being the crusader for pedigree dogs.

She has every right to her opinion, but it should not count for any more that yours or mine....but will we be asked?

Why do the general press turn to these people in their hour of need of a dog knocking article?

We all know we live in an age of sound bites...the more controversial the better and Jemima and Beverley turn up trumps every time.

No one seems to mention the hundreds of thousands of happy dogs and caring owners that have existed happily side by side for years.

In every walk of life, there will always be people who bring the rest of their hobby or pursuit into disrepute. But, for example, just because some athletes take drugs, it does not mean all athletes are cheats and the Olympics should be stopped , or whatever.

The same logic applies to dog breeders...some bad, a lot good, some fantastic! Jemima and those like her have to accept that we all have a right to enjoy superb events like Crufts, where dogs can be seen having a good time with their caring owners. It's a place where many will be learning about health issues, training, nutrition, and many aspects of caring dog ownership...yet these people knock it all the time, and of course are unlikely to attend to see the reality.

WE NEED TO STAND UP AND BE COUNTED. Please pass this on if you agree.....please write to these other papers as well as letters to the Editor at OUR DOGS.
I HAVE SENT A COPY TO MANY PEOPLE IN DOGS AS PART OF THIS EMAIL.

PS: Ironically I own a Boxer, bred by a caring breeder. The dog does not have fits and has been very healthy from the day it was born.

Perhaps we are thinking too narrowly? I replied but they won't print letters if there are too many. Perhaps Vinces campaign will work if everyone writes a letter on their computers, prints it off the posts it to the papers. We need to over whelm them with evidence, they have to read all the post they can't not do that incase they miss something.

Could be I know I've never been able to get a reply up on a couple of them no matter how often I've tried, yet send pulling the show world apart and it appears so who knows!

Beverley Cuddy has now declared Our Dogs is anti health reforms! lol How ridiculous! We are saying we are behind all health iniatives, but we want it made clear that caring breeders have had this at the heart of their breeding policies for years.

I am going to take some printed copies of my health testing info to Crufts with me. I will endeavour to give every journalist I see a copy.

Beverley has even got a breeder on her blog telling her how all this anti pedigree dogs is affecting her personally but still they continue to ask why the good breeders aren't happy with their behaviour!

The public don't know the difference as far as I can see you attack the KC they take that to mean ALL PEDIGREE SHOW BREEDERS, not just puppy farmers, or joe bloggs down the road who's decided to have a litter coz it'll be nice!  How can anybody who publishes a weekly dog newspaper be anti health testing etc, its not about reform its about getting more to spend the money testing or even learn that they need to test?  Like it or lump it the KC don't have the funds, if their accounts are accurate, to take a full blown court case as far as it possibly would need to go to refuse registration of litters from non health tested parents, unlike the RSPCA they don't have millions going spare, maybe Beverley would support such a test case by offering funds to the KC?
