If you are luck enough to win BOB at Crufts and you go into the group, what do you do if you have taken more than one dog ? Some people do go on their own and because groups can be late, may not have some one to stay and look after the other dog, so what happens to them ?
Just one of the daft things that i have been thinking about.

i dont know the answer (and im never likly to find out either.)
However i would hope that a freind of that person would stay to help.
I know i would offer if it were someone i knew getting BOB and on there own.

Within the collecting ring there are a small handful of benches in whic you can bench your other dogs and spare ring stewards can keep an eye on them for you :)

I've 'babysat' a few times for a friend - one day maybe she'll get the chance to do the same for me :-p

I'd imagine most folks would be able to find someone to help out - it's a long day though and if nobody is reasonably local to the NEC a lot of exhibitors would be packed up and gone by the time the group was called.

I know of a few people who would normally put their other dogs in their car cages/vans if stuck but somehow I doubt any exhibitors will be prepared to take that chance this year with all the negative publicity and awareness of demos planned.

Ah, nice one Rox - thanks for the info :)  I never noticed them before but it's been a few years since I was in the collecting ring (working rather than winning >sigh<)

I found out only last year  Wish I had of known before entering into the collecting ring as my mum was stuck with our dogs watching on the screen.  Well if I'm lucky enough to ever win again..... **dreams on**

We have to wait that long :(  Aw, go on then, we can practice meantime with torches for spotlights and radio 4 for music so that we've perfected our routine (gotta stay one step ahead of the competition :-D )

Personally, if you have taken more than one dog, you will really need to have made contingency plans well before the group, as you could end up having to go back into the breed ring with two dogs competing against each other. Even if both are same sex and same class, if one is first and the other second, the second could get called back in to challenge for reserve best of sex. I find we always have to consider this when we show 3 or more dogs (and it's always two of us), so it's best to sort something out in advance. Had a wonderful (not) moment at Boston when I was stood outside the breed ring with two dogs, my husband was inside the ring with a third in the bitch challenge, and the judge called for the other bitch to come back in. The benches were too far away to quickly get back to and I couldn't exactly give hubby two dogs to handle, nor could I go in the ring with the required bitch plus a spare dog LOL, so I just stood there wondering what to do until a kind exhibitor came and took a dog off me. :)

Luckily in red and whites we all help eachother out and will get dogs off benches for friends, brush them etc.  With always a spare pair of hands as alot of partners don't handle and just watch ringside so can help out those in difficult sistuations :)

Thanks for your answers as i said just something i was thinking about one evening.

BoBs at Crufts are well taken care of, ushered into a special area or room, with  coffee and tea laid on. (last time with Wiggle it was a private bar area just behind the BIS ring).  You can take all your trolleys etc, there is benching if you need it and plenty of space.  Only BoBs and their owners/handlers and close associates are allowed in.  It used to be pretty much peopled by Pedigree staff, not sure what will happen this year, suppose KC staff will be on hand.

when my  hound had BOB at crufts I had also taken another bitch with me and I was lucky that my friend offered to take her home for me as she was passing the door. It was the only time anyone has ever taken one of my hounds anywhere without me and I think I was too nervous about the "big ring" to really argue about it!! If she hadnt taken her then my friend who travelled with me but was dogless, had offered to sit outsied on the spare benching with her but apart from that I can see no other opetion as I would never have left her on a bench unattended!

Sam, your frind could have sat in the collecting ring on the benches there with her :)

I was really lucky when I won BOB with my bitch. I had gone on my own but a couple of really good friends stayed on to support me and looked after my other dogs (one of which had won BOS:) ) We didn't know there were any special facilities so they stayed at the benches with my others for me.

So ,me sat here thinking one evening has been very useful for those of us who go BOB at crufts this year. Some of us can dream !!!!!!!
