- By frances Date 22.02.09 10:33 UTC
a good product for general washing down is the biological clothes washing liquid one made up in hot water, cheap and helps to nutralise smells as well as cleaning, use a broom to scrub the area if stone/concrete, leave to dry and safe on dogs feet...........also use bleach at least twice a week. Works for my set up .
- By white lilly [gb] Date 22.02.09 11:07 UTC
ive tried bio washing powder and didnt get rid of the smell  :(  ive tried so many different disinfectants ...but i think girls make more smell then boys .

Have you tried any of the kennel cleaning products? They are always advertised in the dog papers, so should be up online on the 2 papers sites to view. You don't have to be a member to access this information.

I was told that putting down lots of bicarbonate of soda would soak up the smell. Though this was for use on carpets, not sure how beneficial it would be on i guess concrete or stone.

Try Safe4pets, it is excellent, comes in mint, apple and neutral (I think) and there is an odour killer available too (coconut I think).  Very good product and totally safe.  If you google it you can order online.

This product works very well :)
- By Vanhalla [gb] Date 22.02.09 12:23 UTC
I use http://www.animal-health.co.uk/eMerchantPro/pc/viewCategories.asp?idCategory=22  Again, it smells of coconut and masks the odour from my three dogs very well.  I tend to disinfect with ordinary disinfectant once a week in summer, and use the odor-kill once a week, three days after the disinfectant.
I used to use a strong disinfectant, but I disliked the way it killed worms.

I absolutely love ODOUR FREE, the delicate smell isn't perfumy, just fresh smelling to me.

Best not to use Jeys, Detol or other 'milky' disinfectants as they are poisonous to other animals like cats and birds best to use one designed for the purpose
- By tadog [gb] Date 22.02.09 14:06 UTC
Safe4 is good.

Yardfresh is also good but more expenseve.

Think all the companies which advertise in the papers have pretty much been covered on here. OP have posted links to the websites.

Having 12 Labs.. I am paranoid about any possible smells.. and for the last 3 years or so, have been happy with Odorkill (Bubblegum fragrance)

At Caledonian show.. I spotted the above in Lavender .. Brilliant.. what a wonderful smell.. use it everyday, although I do still use Jeyes once a week (I like the smell) :-)
- By Vanhalla [gb] Date 22.02.09 16:36 UTC
That's very true Nova - I don't use milky disinfectants out of concern for our local cats.  Only ones that say they are safe to use around animals.
- By Tigger2 Date 22.02.09 16:39 UTC
I love the odourfresh too, it's miles cheaper than any other disinfectant I've seen and lasts for ages. I buy it off ebay (seller mistral_ie)  All the scents (bar the lemon) are nice but I prefer pineapple or bubblegum :-)
- By kazab [in] Date 22.02.09 17:37 UTC
thanks everyone for your replies, most helpful ! :-)
- By goldie [gb] Date 22.02.09 19:39 UTC
Zoflora is lovely and it works for us...you only need to mix a small amount in the watering can.
- By sam Date 22.02.09 21:32 UTC
we use either the ones made/sold by ken Smith canine supplies (currently using the black cherry one and the cinamon one....yum) or we use "simple solution dog/cat odour remover"
- By Freewayz [gb] Date 22.02.09 22:17 UTC
Ditto the odour fresh super stuff..use it all the time...kills the smells and is fresh. Pineapple is good but I love the eucalyptus so fresh after the cleaning...good on concrete
- By annastasia [gb] Date 23.02.09 10:37 UTC
Hi i always use safe 4, it is quite expensive but smells lovely and fresh. comes in apple, mint and neutral i think,
- By Whistler [gb] Date 23.02.09 13:56 UTC
Zoflora is the other one I use apart from aerial outside and jeyes fluid, it smells a bit flowery
- By LurcherGirl [gb] Date 23.02.09 14:05 UTC
Mistral odour fresh for us too! Great stuff for our paved garden. I like the lemon one, but best of all eucalyptus.
- By Geordie [gb] Date 23.02.09 18:27 UTC
Disifin is probably the best animal disinfectant available. Is effective against all the normal things but also against Guardia which makes it the best google it and see.
- By Sampap [gb] Date 01.06.09 21:15 UTC
What is Mistral? I have not heard of it. We use Parvokill once a fortnight and Superfine DP20 Citrus Muscle every week, I get these from my Superfine rep.
- By Julesx700 [gb] Date 02.06.09 20:52 UTC
I use Airoblock its very good for disguising the smell of dogs and is used by the local dogs home its an odouriser not a disinfectant.
