Hi all

A quick update on Miscah and the babies.
Baby one nickname fatty is doing brilliantly - really fat and lovely pink skin
The little one is not so good- I have taken her away from Mischa as you was being pushed away and was cold and grey.
I have been handffeding her every one to two hours and have got her into the smallest cardboard box possible that will hold the heat pad and snuggled round in a blanket.
It has taken all day jsut to get her warm but she is now.
She is still quite grey- fingers crossed

Hi Ann
I've been following your girl's progress on your other thread.
Congratulations and well done, your first whelping wasn't exactly an easy one.

I just wanted to remind you, that the first milk a bitch produces is very important for the pups to get (the colostrum).
If the little one will suck, try to latch it on for at least a small portion of those vital drops now and then. If she's weak, let the bigger pup start the milk running, then pull her off and put the small one on. That way she'll not waste energy .

Good luck,I'm keeping my fingers crossed everything works out fine!
Best wishes,Karen

Hi Ann hope the little one is doing better today.

Hi All

Thanks- Sadly she died last night.
She was beautiful- tiny but perfectly marked.
We had named her Hope but it wasn't to be
The other pup - no name yet till she gets bigger is thriving well - fat and filled out.
Mum not wanting to eat yet but loving diluted evaporated milk so not too worried about that.

Very sorry to hear that :-(

So sorry Ann :(  Part and parcel of breeding is there can be things which go wrong no matter how well cared for mum and pups are.

I hope the other little girl continues to thrive - it sounds as though she's doing very well.

FWIW my girl wouldn't eat for a couple of days post whelping and that without the added trauma of a GA.  So long as she's drinking well her appetite will hopefully perk up soon.

Cyber {{{hugs}}} to you and yours.
best wishes, Teri

I'm so sorry to hear you lost the little one. Sometimes it's just the way things are, not meant to be. But still so very hard and heartbreaking.
My best wishes for the other little girl.
