Hi
we tried twice with frozen semen from Australia and unfortunately failed . Both attempts were by surgical implants (before current KC rules) - had bloods done from approx day 7 to detect ovulation and pin point right time to do the AI. Used herpes vaccination & AB cover for the procedure, scan at 3wks showed in whelp with mulitiple embryo's but by 4 wks reabsorbing pups. My girl coped with pre op routine very well, walked out of vets after surgical implant after a couple of hours and you would have been hard pushed to notice she had undergone surgery - approx 1 inch wound / no stitches just skin glue.
Same bitch had a litter of 8 to natural mating prior to AI attempts and had litter of 10 to matural mating after the two failed AI's. Guess we will never know why they failed but they did. Might try again with a different bitch at some point as I still have enough straws for two attempts on ice from the Aussie dog (along with semen from my old Ch boy who is no longer with us). Must admit feel twitchy about T.C. given failure with surgical so have not given AI another attempt yet under new rules. That said as your in Ireland I guess you will still be able to use Surgical route.
