Hi i have a litter due this weekend fingers crossed.i was just wondering roughly how many times per day they feed on mum.
As i will be sleeping next to them i was just wondering what the average would be

Hi tonia,
there's no actual number of times - all any newborns do is feed, sleep, feed, sleep constantly.

to start with its hard to say ..new borns tend to just keep going on and off all the time ....but if your having to feed them then about every 2hours ....good luck :) and hope all goes well xx

usually they would roughly feed 2 hourly.....but they will feed as often as they require so maybe more

Thanks.I was only wondering as when my girls mum had a litter i had to do almost everything,put the puppies on the teat etc
so i thought if i new roughly how many times i could make sure all is ok.Im nervous but looking forward to it.The whelping box is in my bedroom
and all equipment ready.
hi again :) do you weigh the pups ? if you do this will tell you how there doing ...plus if there not feeding enogh im sure thay will let you know some help is needed to latch onto mum :) x...

She is due sunday/monday.My breed tend to go approx 58 days.This will only be my third litter i bred her mum and kept one each from her two litters.This is her girl.
Yes i do weigh them every day well i get a bit obssesed and weigh them about 3 times a day.
:) i weigh morning and night too lol yes it can make ya a bit obsesed carnt it :)
