Hi

Yes - some people used one of my boys at stud a few years ago.  They had a scan and were told there was nothing.  She had 8 pups

Yes a boxer (short thin coat, lean and muscled, well cut up behind the rib...looked obviously pregnant)  scanned by vet and said to have no pups....went onto have 6 big fat ones.
I was only trying out the vet and his facilities...never went back :-)

I have decided not to scan in future.
I scanned and was told four pups and had two and was then told a puppy was still inside after delivery, confirmed by a scan and a caesarian done to find no pup.
I am going to be patient next time and wait and see- will be hard though but have been badly put off

I havent personally had that experience, all scans I've had on mine or friends on their dogs have proved pretty accurate.

Ann I can really understand you being put off scans, your experience has been really horrid :-(
My only worry with mine is I need to know if there is just one puppy on board which could be a large one just to prepare for a possible difficult labour, the vet that treated your Mischa has made some howling mistakes so far, maybe look around for a different one is the best thing to do.

I did, however, eventually find a fab lady vet who now does scanning for me and she's very good and accurate with numbers.

Seem to be a very common problem.

If you are able to access a reproduction specialist vet you shouldn't have a problem with scan accuracy.

When my small breed was scanned i was told two puppies or 3 at the most but she had 6 large puppies! I dont think i would trust a vet with little experience in scanning if i ever found myself i that position again.
