Following on from another thread, my Lab boy doesn't really like biscuit complete. He eats it, but looks at me between mouthfuls as if to say, Is This It???. Give him some chappie or tripe and he inhales it!
I am happy to feed wet for main meal, but would rather give some complete for breakfast for convenience and extra vitamins etc.
Has anyone fed either the Vitalin Muesli or Skinners Dog Meal?.
I understand they are mixed with liquid to make a softer meal.
Any thoughts or comments appreciated

Hi, Got a GSD pup aged 8 weeks (about 15 yrs ago)brought him home on Sun, up vet for check on mon, mentioned he had major squits, breeder fed pedigree, and was advised to put him on Skinners meal mixed to a sort of porridge, he did really well on it, he wasn't registered but won load of BIS and RBIS at exemption shows.
one tip if you decide to feed it - get a feed dish about twice the size of your current one, Mine ended being fed from one of those rubber horse feed bowls, you end up with feed everywhere when you mix the water in then feed being shoved over the sides when they start shovelling it down :-) :-)

Thanks for that, did you feed it when the dog was adult?
Just looked online, it's also recommended for dogs that bolt their food, so could be useful for my other lab as well!

Yes I kept him on it till he got a bit bored, I got a rescue who would not eat it about that time so changed him to something they would both eat but he must have been about 3ish by then. It definatly makes them eat slower than they do with kibble.

I've had the same problem with my year old BC pup so have just changed her onto natures harvest which is a complete food which means she doesnt need to have kibble at all.

I sometimes add naturediet or the like to his food, but to feed it soley all the time would be a bit expensive for me. I feel guilty giving the yummy stuff to just one of the dogs and the other having plain old kibble.
I've ordered a 20kg bag of the Skinners for £23 and am going to feed this mixed with chappie or other wet food to both dogs and see how we go, they have just had Chappie for tea and it didn't touch the sides!!
for me it hasnt cost any extra as the food she was on was costing me £15 a month just for her so this works out to much the same. The boys have stayed on the kibble and I dont feel guilty as they adore it and wolf it down.

Hi JeanSW,
Sorry can't do links, but it was from K9 Kapers, you can just google it. Very nice and helpful on the phone too.

Are you trying the Skinners Dog Meal too? If you are, I'd be interested to know how you get on with it. Mines coming on Thursday.

clio1 - I'm trying to get ready for the possibility of losing my job. If it means moving to a cheaper dog food, I was going to try mixing with the present food, just see how they get on with it.
I've got a decent stock of food in at the moment, but I'm trying to think ahead!
