hi all dog lovers, we recently got a young 9/10 month old staff , the first thing we did was take him to the vets to get checked out mainly because we knew nothing about his state of health. as his previous owners hadent had him long and they were moving house to were they are not aloud dogs they couldent tell us anything about him only that he was approx 9/10 month old. he had spent his time there with another dog who bullied him and the owners said that the small bald patches ( about 6 in all ) were from the other dog nibbling him, as it turned out the vet did a scrape and its demodectic mange . he his now bathed every 5/7 days with aludex which is quite potent but the bald patches are now bigger and hes still scratching but not as much. the vet dident offer much info so i was wondering if any of you know how long this can go on for and is there anything els that i can do ? ie diet etc that may help. any info is appreciated.

Ivermectin is not licenced for dogs, but really helped my friends colllie when she got him from a farmer, you could ask your vet, if this is a option.

My girl had demodex whe she came to me, I tried her with advocate to start with and it wasn't enough and then tried the baths with her that really made a difference, it did take two or three weeks to start to see the effects of the baths though so worth persevereing, you won't notice a difference straight away.  If you want more info or are worried give your vets a call and ask them to explain more.  Hope it's sorted soon :-)
