We are getting the recycle bins soon so were woundering what other people do with their dog poo if they have 5 or more dogs? We have 6 dogs so putting it in the grey bin would be out of the question. Any ideas would be a help.

Either the outside loo or in poo bags, then carrier bags, and in the bin :)

Ditto - either flushed down the loo or in poo bags then in the ordinary bin.

i put it in my wheely bin. i have 4 danes who go 4 times a day each so thats a lot! the bin men DID go through a phase of pulling the bin liners out (which im sure is illegal) anyway after speaking to my enviromental health officer he said as long as its bagged it should be ok. saying that my bins get picked up every week still so it doesnt get overfilled it depends if yours get picked up weekly and it fits in

Same as Missie & Jeangenie here :)

my garden backs onto farmland (arable) so I flick it into the middle of the farmers field

(not that we get much as they tend to wait until they go for their walks)

Bagged and binned in the wheelie bin - no dog bins where the dogs go.
The bin men managed to let the poo bags fall out of the bin and instead of picking them up and putting them in the lorry they stepped all over them. Witnessed by OH (who although 6'5" is not manly enough to chase down the fiends) so the council got a phone call and a letter letting them know that we had to use a shovel to pick up the mess and bag it and bin it for the second time.
I tie a carrier bag onto the handle of my wheelie bin, then hang it inside and then use poo bags or kitchen roll to pick up. When the bag gets a bit full I cut it off, tie it up and let it drop into the bin.
My pet hate is when I see little bags of poo at the side of the path on our lovely coastal walk. Grrrr...Why not just put it in the bin?...Its going to be there for years now!!
I have lost count of the amount of people fined by our wardens for not picking up but what some people don't realise is that the legislation states that the poo must be picked up and then put in a bin, not left at the side of the path or flicked into a field!!
>not left at the side of the path or flicked into a field!!
sometimes if people are doing a circular walk they leave the poo bagged on the side of the path and pick it up on the way back. Also one forest we use has a "stick and flick" policy, whereby if you dog poos on a footpath they would prefer you to flick it into the undergrowth rather than bag it and bin it (its an environmental thing)
Where I walk, which is mostly woodland, my boys go off into the undergrowth and under bushes to do their business so I rarely clear it up. It will probably biodgrade in a few weeks and it isnt where anyone is likely to walk, where as bagging and binning it could potentially take years (although I do use biodegradeable bags)

Ours are the same - I have 3 dogs but 2 of them prefer to go on their walks, our garden backs on to farmland too so I flick it in the field as well, or sometimes flush down the loo....
Luckly we have a septic tank so in it goes!
The 'stick and flick' idea sounds good as I've often thought that using bags is causing so much more damage to the environment than a few poos even would.....woulld need to watch out for low-flying poos though!!
Ditto missie we do that as well.

We have a lidded bucket lined with a carrier for the yard, when full it's tied, put in another bag and in the wheelie.

You can get bins from argos that have chemicals in that dissolves the poo but i think it would be pricey when you can just bag it and bin it

These can barely cope with one small pet dog.

We bag it and then place in our general household refuse bin for the bin men to collect.
I do know that some waste removals won't collect if poo is bagged up, though if mixed in with other bags they can't tell.

:-p same here. I'm quite expert at poo flinging, best implement, kiddies spade from bucket and spade set, the best spades have a handle of approx 500mm length and a shovel head width of approx 300mm. :)

I'm a pooh flinger!!! Have a mini but very deep dell at the back of me with very steep sloping sides and a stream at the bottom. Not somewhere people could walk so entirely safe and melts!!! into the vegitation.Hope the badgers and foxes dont mind though!!

poo bag and carry bag then in the bin.
i have three newfs so very big poo's
I must be very lucky - there is a dog poo bin just up the road from me, so poo gets picked up from the garden and when theres a little collection - every couple of days, up i walk to drop the carrier into the dog poo bin. Wouldnt like to put it into my normal wheelie bin.

If done in the garden its straight down the loo. when done out walking its in doggie bin or our refuse bin.

Did not find them very effective. So back to the same as Missie, JG and Teri. For the garden
Fortnightly collections means in the summer I sometimes resort to sneaking a bag to the park dog bins.
Out in the woods once past the bits where people walk I stick and flick!
Same as Freds mum,we are lucky enough to have a poo bin across the rd,so problem sorted. Our council say no animal c**p in the bins, its phrased a little differently tho.

Mail it to Giles Corren....... :-D

We can lift the cover off the sewage pipe in our back garden then we throw the daily collection straight down the sewer without having to trail it through the house. Then a quick flush indoors and it's gone.
Tried one of those chemical loos at our last house years ago - it was useless :-(

My mum has a chemical green thing for her doggy waste (she only has a single pug, until recently when she added another) however it doesnt seem to cope all too well with the waste. I have no idea what it would be like with a larger breed :-o
With my lot, the waste goes into a designated compost bin at the end of the garden. The compost from this isnt used in the garden, once a year its dug out and put in a pile at the far end of the garden. The worms and bugs disperse of it and by that point it no longer smells of poop. Job done! :-D

I second that e-- motion :-D

I have 3 Bernese,
We have tried the green bin thing that goes in the ground with chemicals, and it was useless
We also used to take the bags down to our local tip until one day one of the workers there moaned at us about the content of the bags.
So I phoned my council and they said to bag it up and put it into the refuse bin, which is what we do, but now that the bins are are only emptied fortnightly it gets quite full!
The only 'dog bin' we have is in the woods, and you have to climb over slushy mud and branches to get to it, and it is very small bin so would not hold alot!

poo bags when out, at home we put it down the down stairs loo, just again the back door.

With 7 dogs ,alot of poo, I flick it into the field behind the house, which is the farm land.
with 4 dogs also alot of poo ....if out baged and bin'd if on the garden hubby puts it down the man hole ...no point with the loo its going to the same place :)
i use nappy bags - at shows and at home , then straight in the bin

hubby picks it up and puts it in nappy sacks and bins it with normal bin waste,i wash it down the waste drain when i jeyes the outside.

About half is done in the park, where it is picked up and binned in the doggie bin. The other half is done in our garden, where again I pick it up with nappy bags, then place it in a plastic bag (which is in a bucket) and when full add it to the normal kitchen rubbish in a black bag when I put that out in the wheely bin. This happens about twice a week.
Vera
My Dad this was years ago used to put it in a bin and then when garden was ready for digging over, for spring planting dig it in with the mulched up grass cuttings.Reckoned it grew the best carrots ever.Me I am not so sure.

Thanx for all the replys we will either use outside toilet or wheelie bin.

Our bin instructions state dog and cat waste are to be bagged and binned in the household waste that goes to tip.
My OH is composting some of it though.
Oh guys come on flicking your dog poo into the fields how would you like it if we flicked sheep doddles into your garden . I wouldnt fancy eating cereals made from grain in those fields and also the possibillity of passing on disease to livestock, yuc!!!

I agree, throwing it over the fence isnt my way. I have 65.5 dogs at the mo and I have a down stairs loo that is the dog loo.
> I have 65.5 dogs at the mo
> hubby puts it down the man hole .
My OH also does this or if we're out on a walk I take nappy sacks and it gets binned. ;)

I either stick it and flick it into overgrown areas etc if out (not onto farmland mind! :-D) or bag and bin it.
At home I put it in with the rubbish. I tried to flush a dog poo multiple times on one occassion but it kept floating back to the top and I ended up having to fish it back out

My dog was raw fed at the time so maybe something to do with the bone content..? No idea!
