We have just been away and left both dogs (Mum and Twiglet aged 8 months, GWPs) with my daughter in law.
Twiglet developed diarrhea and after starving her and re starting on her own food it came back. She took her to the vet who gave her Hills ID prescription food and prokolin and it cleared up but as soon as she started back on her own food it came back. DIL kept her on the Hills till we got back yesterday, we introduced a small amount of her dry food with the ID last night and this morning she has had 2 progressively wetter poos and just now sicked up yellow bile and grass.
The vet was querying campylobactor but not done a faecal test yet as wasn't sure as test is £80.
Anyone have any ideas please? Could it be that she got sensitive to the food or could something more sinister be going on? Would campylobactor present like this, ie clear up then come back every time she has her own food (a good brand she has been on without problem for a couple of months now)
I have seen people suggest Chappie as an alternative to the prescription diet and I have bought some today but it isn't a solution.
I will be taking her back to our own vet probably tonight. She has lost quite a bit of weight and is looking very lean now.

Sometimes a really nasty bout of diarrhoea takes a while to settle. You could have the lab test but they often don't show up anything definite. I would keep Twiglet on something bland like boiled fish and rice for a few days before very gradually reintroducing her normal food. The Prokolin won't do any harm to continue with for a few more days too.

We find using raw food keeps the poos firmer than kibble and our dogues rarely have upset stomachs these days.

Hope your vet visit went well and  that Twiglet makes a good recovery now. They're such a worry aren't they.

If you only bought Chappie today then it is too early to say if it will help or not, I would continue feeding Tinned Chappie for at least 3 weeks before deciding that it was not going to work. If the dog is also ill and depressed then I would want further tests done but even whilst they are being done the dog will need feeding and I would go with the Chappie.

The very act of changing food will cause stomach problems so each time you do so make sure you take at least 2 weeks to change or it is likely that the problem will restart, so now you have changed to Chappie stick with it for at least at month and then if you decide to change do it over a further 2 weeks.

Thanks Misty and Jackie. Her tummy seems to be settling, we haven't anymore diarhhea and the vet said just keep a close eye on her for now and keep her diet the same.
She certainly isn't sick or sorry....full of beans and naughtiness!

hi :) pippa sorry to hear about twigglet :( ....hope you had a great holiday :) .....we had this prob with 1 of our (can you remember?) every time she had kibbles with rice in her poos would go sloppy and then furm up and then very runny ....we put her on wainrights fish and potato and she did great on it ....
