My bitch is apparently having a phantom pregnancy. Can anyone tell me how long the sypmtoms go on for after supposed "due" date.
She is producing milk and would be day 63 from last mating if it had worked.  When will she return to her old self.......

depends on the bitch. does she have a lot of milk? is she nesting? one of my bitches was terrible, had milk and nursed toys for about 6 weeks! we eventually found gallostop which was good and stopped the phantom in a week.

The worst I have had was recently and it has lasted over 3 months. Usually they have resolved themselves but on this occasion I took  her to vets who gave her galastop to stop milk.(Little monkey was actually sucking her own teats for milk and so encouraging more milk to come in.)

the longest my girls have had is 2 weeks. the worst one she we had was when she was convinced she had given birth to a soft squeeky pig, nicknamed puppypig, she would carry him round and leave him with me when she wanted a wee (cheek) but even this sloped off after two weeks

my bitch had a phantom too, took her about 2 weeks to get over it and start acting normal again. We just had to make sure she had her old bed back and not the whelping box she had been in for the last 2 weeks so there was no feeling to nest and make sure there were no toys or other things lying about she could baby, as this makes them take longer to get over it if they find something to mother. The vets advised on keeping her occupied and taking her for long walks, this seemed to help. x
