Topic Dog Boards / Feeding / Keepers Mix - Dorwest

I chatted to a man on a stall at the Working and Pastoral this weekend and picked up a leaflet.

I am interested in 'Keepers Mix' - it is a blend of herbs and minerals, things like sea kelp, for general health and condition.

Has anyone used it?

Thanks, Dawn R

Hi Dawn

I feed mainly raw and home prepared and use it alternating with Easy Green - both added to mince meals or similar.  I'd recommend it :)

I tried to use it when I fed raw but the boys refused to eat anything with it in - I do have a fussy breed though !

Mine love it if they lick it off my finger but will not touch their food if I sprinkle it on.  I think it's the "peppery" smell that they don't like.

Thanks, all.

I don't have a fussy eater (as far as I know), so I think I might give it a go.

Terri, what is Easy Green?  Is it from the same people?

Cheers, Dawn R

Thanks Teri,

When you alternate is this daily?

I don't give either daily, maybe twice a week and alternate when I remember LOL.  It really depends on your feeding regime (most of my lot have different 'recipes').  If feeding all raw or home prepared I'd keep on top of it more but some get a mixture of moist complete and raw with/out biscuit etc so no hard and fast rules.

Both being powders (and quite strong smelling) the dogs can only get them with moist meals, a little at a time of the herbs etc otherwise as some have mentioned faddy dogs could be put off.  It saves worrying about them eating veg - especially greens - one of mine wont touch veg in any form but eats these on days with cooked offal for example which is strong tasting/smelling enough to overcome the powder (in theory anyway!)

HTH, Teri :)

I feed Keepers Mix in the winter and Easy Green in the summer, so much more convenient than farting about with ice cubes.

I actuall prefer the HIlton Herbs mix now though.
