Can you show a dog that's been castrated?
Reason I ask is I had help from an animal charity a few weeks ago due to the fact I lost my job before xmas and I needed my female dog spayed they gladly helped me out which I am  so grateful for ,
Im hoping my jobless situation wont last but times are a bit tough right now,
I am still wanting to show my boy whos the only son of my bitch iv just had spayed and this was the whole plan when I first got my girl 4 years ago now I have my champ (well he's a champ in my eyes) and I'd like to show him this year.
im now having the animal charity ringing me up and asking when im bringing my boy down to be castrated!!,
  the thought hadn't entered my head I had his mum done because she had to have an emergency c-section with him and was a bad mother I didn't want her having another litter,
But her boys 9 months old and I really didn't want to get him done id have liked to breed him and maybe have one of his puppys in many years to come,
And castrating him is so Final! But im being pressured by the staff and I don't know what to say,

Any tips please on castrating or not,

Whether you want to show him or not, it's up to you whether he gets castrated. Just tell them you don't intend to go ahead with castrating him at this time!

Well I personally do not castrate my dogs unless it is for medical reasons & in the 50 years I've had dogs this happened just once(dog contracted an infection in his bits that couldn't be treated in 1968).

I certainly wouldn't castrate a pre pubescent puppy dog. Simply tell them that you don't want to have him castrated at this time, because you want to ensure that his growth plates close timeously, which they will not do if he is castrated before they close(biological fact)

& yes you can show castrated dogs-but few judges will place them honestly sadly

i agree , he is your dog and you should not be told to castrate him if you dont want to or arent sure , if you show him when castrated ,  you would probably lose out to others as he wont conform to the breed standard ie. having 2 descended testicles  ,  and as you have his mum spayed they wont produce any unwanted pups so i would leave him intact (only my  opinion ) and have a go at showing him ,if thats what you want to do.

thanks for that i know what you mean but its a bit hard when they keep ringing my house they even offered to come get him and drop him back ,
i told them im caring for my elderly mother my autistic son and my 3 dogs and 2 cats right now i cant even contemplat caring for a dog whos just had the snip to it would all be to much but they rang back week later now they going to call nxt week to arrange someone to pick him up,
i will use your words as i cant think of a nice way to say no i mean even when i say i hadnt thought of getting it done im then bombarded with reasons why i should and their arranging a time and date regardless of what iv said,

if i was you i would be firm and say there is no way the bitch can get pregnant. they have NO right to tell you a dog which you did not get from them has to be castrated. lay it on the line for them and tell them thats the end of it.

i do feel grateful to them for helping me out when i was in a bad situation with the bitch dog but its the first time iv ever sort out any charity help for any animals iv owned i surpose i dont like to be mean about not getting him done but its really not what i want at all,

Yes tell them firmly that you do not want or need to have him castrated. Tbh its none of their business and they should certainly not be harassing you (which is exactly what they are doing)

Tell them to go sling their hook, that you are keeping him as a show dog and he will not be castrated at this point in time.

If you want to show him it is best not to get him castrated as many judges will not place a dog that has been done.
In my opinion you do not get a dog operated on unless there is a health problem.

Don't be pressurised to have him done. If you want to show or breed pups it's be totally insane to have him castrated! :) 

Only do this of you want to or actually have a reason to - and then wait for him to be fully mature first. Maybe have some time showing him and see how you enjoy it and if you enjoy it and find you have a lad that is good to breed pups from then you will certainly not want to have him castrated. You can't know in advance, but by waiting you keep your options open.

With this anti Crufts stuff there seems to be increaising hostility towards breeding dogs, and this link with uncastrated dogs to the abused/abandoned dog issue. 

Im my mind we do our best for our dogs, they are ouir pets and companions. So what we do with our dogs it totally unrelated to abandoned dogs, aninal abuse, neglect, unwanted pups etc. 

You have to keep this clear in their head that having a dog, loving that dog is not related in any shape or form to the dark side of the dog world. Hold you head up high and don't let anyone link you with the dark side! lol. Thell them of course he won;'t be castrated because you hope to show him, prove him health test etc... line up some good homes and breed from him.

As far as helping folk out. When we help other people we do so because we want to - not because we want anything back.  The only expectation we have is that maybe we might get told 'thanks'.  No more. 

And if you want you can pass on the good will. Help someone or some animal in need. This is how we can repay folk for help we are given. Not by giving away our soul.

thanks for all of you suporting words alot of whats been said is how i feel ,
iv had a pretty tough past 6 months and i want to keep my dream of showing my boy like i planed
god its taken me 4 years and cost me a small foutune  to get here and i want do what i set out to do so i will  be FIRM and tell them my boys KEEPING HIS BALLS lol,
i just wish id never gone to them for help in the first place i really dont need the hassle on top of every thing else im not even now answering the phone case its them i mean plz thats insane,

A bit sneaky perhaps, but if you don't feel strong enough to tell them to get lost (it does take a lot of guts ;-) ) then tell them that he is co-owned and the co-owner doesn't want him done :-) You don't need to tell them that his co-owner is his own mum :-D

My own vets stopped asking me years ago when I was going to book my dogs in to be neutered. They know I show my dogs and will neuter when I am ready for them to be done, if ever.

I've never been hassled by vets about having my dogs neutered. In fact a few years ago when I booked my boy in to be done at 2 and a half the vet nurse said 'oh, what a shame' !!!
