Hi, i have a litter of 10 day old puppies that I think might be slightly constipated as they are straining occassionally and when they do go its really hard. Mum is on antibiotics for mastitis but she is still feeding them fine. Any ideas on what the other signs of constipation may be and also ideas of how to relieve them would be appreciated. Obviously i'll take them to the vet if nec but want to try and help them myself if poss (not keen on the possibility of them picking up anything from the vets after all its the place where sick animals go!). thanks.

A few drops of liquid paraffin fro the pups and more liquids for Mum,.

Try califig, you will get it grom the chemist, it will help with constipation, i use it own mine and they have had no effects from it.
to start with i would give 1ml if no bowel movement within 2-3 hours give another 1ml, but usually the once is enough to make them go.
