Good morning all, I was looking through a local internet ad site and came across these ads one behind the other.

This is the first one, and I have to say this is some reason to get a dog!

hi there, i am looking for a small pup for my little boy to keep him amused i have been looking for a while but had no luck so far i really want my boy 2 have someone to play with also would be nice to have another member of the family . must be free for adoption/ or to good home can pay small price depending on the dog . if any 1 thinks they can help please get back to me asap throught mail or txt my boy would be so
delighted thanks x x x

Second one.

I am looking for a small quiet dog for my retired neighbour. She has recently had to have her companion of 10 years put to sleep after a long battle with cancer.
Peps, was her joy and now he's gone...
My neighbour is looking for a small, quiet, friendly type of dog. Not too old but not a new puppy. Would prefer something no bigger than a larger Jack Russell or Westie/Cairn size.

Not too much money is available but could pay some money for the right dog. Prefer a dog or dressed bitch.

third one.

experience staffy owner worked in animal welfare which i enjoyed i now left would like to settle down and love staffys.
any 1 who is looking for a good home for there staffy please contact me and i dont mind you coming to see my home to see were the dog would be living.

What gets me is they want the dogs for nothing, but if they can afford an itianal out lay for the animal how can they afford to keep it, its expensive to keep dogs, with insurance etc.

I remember when myself and my other half got our first dog, Ben Labrador who is now 10, we saved up for a long time so that we could afford the dog, and all puppy items and everything else, has been different with Olli as more finances available.

Just wondered what everyone else thinks, is it just me that thinks these people are asking for to much without puting a lot of thought into what is involved?

I don't have a problem with the second and third scenario. A lot of pensioners may be able to afford looking after a dog, especially if it is insured, but that doesn't mean they can afford to pay £600 + up front. If you're elderly and lonely and have recently lost your dog, it must be very hard to save up as during that time you'd be without a dog. Slightly different to somebody young wanting a first dog.

As for the third scenario -there are so many Staffies needing homes, at times even entire litters of puppies are been given away for free, that I can't see a problem there either -the person seems knowledgeable and willing to give a home to the one breed in more need than any other breed. The only question mark would be why they didn't simply pop along to the nearest rescue.

Hi, the ad re the staffs she states that she worked in a rescue centre, which I took it was a staff rescue, maybe not though, which if she did youd think she would get one from there.

With the oap I do agree with you there, I can see many people who have retired not having £600 plus for a dog, what I thought with this ad was, they seem to have an idea of what breed there looking for, would they be better trying a breed rescue?

Thanks for your feed back.

Thanks for your reply, Theres so many dogs in rescue centres that are loving and just need someone to spend time with them, which a lot havent had before.  Dogs arent in there through choice and Im sure if they can talk they would tell you that, but saying that if people posts ads for free puppies and dogs they wont go to rescue centres as you have to pay there.

Its just a shame that there is so many dogs and puppies in rescue centre, that seem to get by-passed.
