Hi everyone, looking for some advice, when i got my cocker spaniel the breeder was feeding him on pedigree complete, i noticed he was really itchy, no flaking or dandruff just itchy skin the vet advised i try a hypo allergenic complete so i went for jwb.  He absolutely adores it he gets the lamb and rice complete with the little pouches, just a small drop of the wet food and he just gulps it down.  His poos are small and firm ( a bit too small i think sometimes) he is on 3 meals a day.  The problem is he "farts" all the time, to the extreme that he clears the room.  I would love to keep him on this food (also have about 6 bags of it as it was on special) but am worried its upsetting his tummy, although the poos seem to be fine.  I read a post about it with someone else and it was suggested that it may be the rice, do you think i can change him to the junior complete now he is just under 5 months as all the puppy complete have rice.  Sorry to go on a bit any advice would be gr8.  Its just that he seems ok on it other wise, also my OH has said a couple of times he has a fishy smell around his bottom sometimes. He is also getting a couple of drips of vitapet cod liver oil in his complete and seem to be thriving on it as his coat is beautiful can this coz the fishy smell?

could be the lamb ? try turkey maybe and see if he still stinks :)

The fishy smell is probably from his anal glands.

thanks for the reply he has had the turkey one, about a month or so my OH brought it in instead of the lamb, but he was still stinking.  thought i would keep him on the same one rather than change the flavours, maybe i could try the fish one but got a feeling it wont help lol.  About the anal glands could they be blocked?

They could be over-full and leaking.
