I have read a lot over the past months on dog food. which has lead me to a different method in feeding. My friend Steve has raced greyhounds for years, his trick was buy a dog that used to run well but had not won anything recently and get it in top condition and make it win again, he did this time and again. He thinks one on these reasons why is that he vastly improved there diet. This is they way he and myself feed now. Cooked various fine minces beef, chicken, lamb, rabbit any quality mince, and to it we add cooked tripe and liver and kidneys in small amounts also vegtables and rice or pasta I give cooked oats instead of pasta.

65% minced meat
10% tripe,liver,kidneys
10% rice,oats, pasta
10% vegtables
5% fruit usualy given raw.

They are cooked up all together then frozen in bags which are then left out the night before they get consumed. We are lucky in having a couple of good suppliers of animal foods that come from our area. I also give salmon oil and herbs and the dogs are gleaming with health and vitality with rock hard feaces. I know this will get shot down as there seems to be the Kibblers or the BARFers. I went this way mainly through realising what is in comercial dog food.

I think you may be disappointed :-)  This board tends more towards the one kibble above all others rather than kibble versus BARF and even then they seem to be in the minority.  It seems more common to adopt the view that, within reasonable limits, whatever your dog thrives on is good.  Your meals sound very nice indeed :-)

Ah, now you could be one of those rarer posters :-D

Thats very interesting and it obviously worked for your friend. What were the greyhounds being fed on before he changed their diet? Was it kibble-presumably it was lower in protein? There's already studies to show that greyhounds run faster on higher protein diets. Have you ever tried feeding this mix raw rather than cooked?

Sounds good to me, I am a raw feeder so the only thing I would change is not cooking the meat. But its a matter of choice and if your dogs are doing great whoose to say otherwise.
There are many on here who would only feed premium brands and others whoose dogs  arevery healthy on low costs foods.
Sounds like you could share it with the humans too LOL

The greyhounds were on varied diets depending were they came from, but in the main kibble. I have not tried feeding raw as they look so good on this diet. Thanks for the positive coments.
