Just got back from the doctors and mum has taken Sammy (our Golden) to the vets and he has had to be put to sleep, :( he was really unwell and it was the kindest thing to do, mum said he passed away so peacefully and looked so at ease... i am so upset

Then i notice Sparky (my yorkie) his penis, now i know they usually stick out sometimes and stuff and its thin and pink, but today its a big round pink ball and its really cold, the bit where it retracts back into is quite swelled, well looks bigger than usual... and the pink bit thats out that wont go back in is really cold! It doesnt seem to be causing him pain, i have had a prod and poke and he is quite contect, he is running about with his little duck now as we speak and is full of life like normal, but has now just sat down and is licking himself... any ideas what this is?
- By WestCoast Date 06.02.09 11:15 UTC Edited 06.02.09 11:17 UTC
Sorry to hear about Sammy but it sounds as though Sparky has got a little excited with his little duck? :)  He should be back to normal soon.  Just keep an eye.
- By yorkies4eva [gb] Date 06.02.09 11:17 UTC
It shouldnt be all fat and swelled though?? Its normally thin isnt it when it pops out, but now its all fat, like the size of his ball... it doesnt look normal at all and i am worried its something serious
- By mahonc Date 06.02.09 11:18 UTC
hhm sounds like he has maybe got a little excited at something and it just hasnt gone back in yet, can take a while, just look the other way so he doesnt get embarrassed?

and he may be thankful for you not to prod his manhood!
- By yorkies4eva [gb] Date 06.02.09 11:19 UTC
why is it all fat like a ball though?? when he gets excited i know what that looks like... but this doesnt look normal its all fat and big
- By mahonc Date 06.02.09 11:21 UTC
when your oh gets all  ahem... excited it doesnt stay the same size does it??
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 06.02.09 11:21 UTC
It sounds as if he's got himself a little over-excited and now can't retract. The careful use of lubricant and a cold wet flannel should sort him out - do it soon because otherwise it can have unpleasant consequences.

Sorry to hear about Sammy.
- By yorkies4eva [gb] Date 06.02.09 11:22 UTC
oh i guess so, i am just panicing, cos thats happened with sammy, now that has happened with sparky, and i have never seen that before ever in a dog so thought something really bad was happening, and didnt fancy paying however much at the vet for them to tell me what you just have! lol thanks then if it doesnt go away in a few days though, ill be at the vet
- By yorkies4eva [gb] Date 06.02.09 11:23 UTC
Cold flannel, thanks, ill try that, dont think i have lubricant or whatever, so ill stick to the flannel xx
- By mahonc Date 06.02.09 11:24 UTC
ha ha ha ha i would love to be a fly on the wall watching your vet tell you.

although i can appreciate you being worried.
- By WestCoast Date 06.02.09 11:24 UTC
if it doesnt go away in a few days though, ill be at the vet

He should go back to normal much quicker than that.
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 06.02.09 11:27 UTC Edited 06.02.09 11:31 UTC

>dont think i have lubricant or whatever

Vaseline ... baby oil ... even vegetable oil if necessary!

>if it doesnt go away in a few days though, ill be at the vet

Don't leave it a few days! If the blood supply is constricted for too long it could result in amputation!
Information.
- By yorkies4eva [gb] Date 06.02.09 11:31 UTC
Just let him out and he has had a wee and seems fine he is weeing ok and isnt in any pain, put a cold flannel on it and he just sat there wondering what i was doing lol, playing wtih his duck again now, so ill wait and see if it goes down and if not ill have to go vets cos im a bit scared, and vaseline, good idea!!! :) thanks
- By mahonc Date 06.02.09 11:32 UTC
it sould be down in an hour at most. like jeangenie said just cold flannel him to take the heat away and a bit of lube, he'll be fine if not a little embarrassed at being caught out with his duck
- By Granitecitygirl [eu] Date 06.02.09 12:32 UTC
LOL! Oh I'm sorry for laughing Yorkies, I know you were frightened, especially with the emotional strain of Sammy being pts.  I remember what a shock I got when I saw Jack's for the first time. Jack is the dog btw ;-) He's a big boy for a little dog, compared to his brother Rory anyway.  The swelling went down very shortly although he was walking funny for a while.
- By Pinky Date 06.02.09 12:39 UTC
I think maybe this duck must be one tidy piece of totty and is leading him astray. I would limit his access to the little trollop :-D
- By mahonc Date 06.02.09 12:42 UTC

>I think maybe this duck must be one tidy piece of totty and is leading him astray. I would limit his access to the little trollop

ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha haha
it takes all sorts...
- By Romside [gb] Date 06.02.09 13:35 UTC
my mother in laws toy poodle had this, and she rushed him round to me screaming what do i do.dont worry it will go bk to normal, like others have said its just he's got a little too exited thats all.x
- By JeanSW Date 06.02.09 13:45 UTC
My Yorkie boy has done this.  Obviously been mating a toy, and ejaculated.  Hair got inverted and he couldn't get it back in.  I covered him in obstetric gel, and gently teased out the hair.  Was back inside 3 minutes later.
- By mahonc Date 06.02.09 13:47 UTC
I'd be washing old ducky if i was you!!!
- By JeanSW Date 06.02.09 13:47 UTC

> I'd be washing old ducky if i was you!!!

ROFL!!
- By mastifflover Date 06.02.09 14:02 UTC

> cos im a bit scared

My dogs willy often pops out of the sheath but the first time it popped out and was erect I nearly fainted!!! What an awful sight, it looked like a dead limb
Check that there aren't any hairs stuck in the end of the sheath, if there are, ease them out gently, that may be what's stopping it going back in addition to needing lubricating.
- By Mini [gb] Date 06.02.09 14:09 UTC
Poor wee man doesn't have a clue we're all discussing his ducky love affair :)
- By mahonc Date 06.02.09 14:11 UTC
is the duck smoking a cigarette and have a satisfied grin on his face?
- By yorkies4eva [gb] Date 06.02.09 16:54 UTC
Awww i feel proper stupid now, came back in now from going to the shops and it was still out, so i thought right, so i had a look and inspected and it was just erect, looks jst lke a real one, i never new it did that at all!! I thought when it popped out that was it, didnt know it got all hard ha ha, thats proper freaky, anyway, i had a mess and got it back in, sounds horrible that doesnt it!! Told my sisters and they were proper like EWWW ha ha, thanks so much for everything, its nothing serious and i was really worried, thanks everyone xxx :)
- By yorkies4eva [gb] Date 06.02.09 16:54 UTC
Oh and about the duck ha ha, i cant stop laughing now!! LOL
- By mahonc Date 06.02.09 16:56 UTC
dont feel stupid, at least you care about him, but seriously wash the duck....
- By newfiedreams Date 06.02.09 17:47 UTC
I bet he enjoyed that!!!

It's his glans penis that swells...I've even had a lady tell me that the balls go up into his penis sheath when he gets excited, 'cos she could see them!!! I nearly had hysterics laffin' at her...can you imagine both their balls shooting up??? :-o ;-)
- By newfiedreams Date 06.02.09 17:49 UTC
I would take him aside, tell him his duck and what he does to it is a private thing and he doesn't need to tell the neighbourhood how much he LURVES the duck...it's for away from people time and give him a tub of Vaseline so he can get prepared next time!!!
- By JeanSW Date 06.02.09 17:51 UTC

> looks jst lke a real one

I just can't stop laughing!
- By Freds Mum [gb] Date 06.02.09 18:47 UTC
Oh Yorkies, bless you :-)  I do love the way that some of the conversations on this forum couldnt be repeated to "normal" non dog loving folk. They would lock us up :-)
Hope he is ok now and you have calmed down. Sorry to hear about your loss, i can understand why you were supersensitive about your dogs health after losing Sammy. RIP Sammy.xxx
- By luvhandles Date 06.02.09 18:53 UTC
Oh I've had such a laugh reading this thread! Poor little Sparkie and poor you.....sight for sore eyes hey!  :-O  So sorry to read about Sammy though and I'm thinking about you. xx

>looks jst lke a real one

Erm ... it is a real one!
- By breehant Date 06.02.09 19:27 UTC
ROFL,   Where's Liv with the Tena Lady :-O
- By Saxon [gb] Date 06.02.09 20:21 UTC
It sounds to me like he's just using this duck for sex. Have they ever been on a proper date. Also, if they are having unprotected sex the duck could quite easily get pregnant. I suppose a cross between a duck and a yorkie would be a duckie.
- By St.Domingo Date 06.02.09 20:35 UTC
This thread's just quackers !!!
- By Oldilocks [se] Date 06.02.09 20:45 UTC

Tena Lady, why I've got a months supply, I've just hit 50 and they presented me with them at work
- By Pinky Date 06.02.09 21:23 UTC

- By Pinky Date 06.02.09 21:25 UTC

You mean like old turkey neck and spare elbow skin ;)
- By newfiedreams Date 06.02.09 21:32 UTC Edited 06.02.09 21:35 UTC
I should have thought he would be locked up by the PC Brigade for even considering sex with a duck! Isn't it illegal? To have sex with a duck I mean?? ;-)

it'll be a yokeldukel

That's no YOKE is it!
- By Pinky Date 06.02.09 21:49 UTC
Yuckie Duckie Yorkie Dorkie either way it should not be allowed.

Where's the RSPCA when you want them ;)

Cruelty to rubber ducks I say!
- By suz1985 [gb] Date 06.02.09 21:58 UTC
im wiping tears away here guys, please, no more!
- By Pinky Date 06.02.09 22:11 UTC
Maybe it's a Yorkie thing, it's reminds me of Ben, the Yorkie I had when I was 18, many many many years ago, he used to do unspeakable things to the ears of my mother's cross BC/GR, poor old Kelly would be sound asleep only to be woken by this little humping moron, Kelly would look at me as I cleaned his head and ears and his eyes would say 'Why me?'

Kelly was male and very
- By white lilly [gb] Date 06.02.09 22:25 UTC
