A short time ago someone (sorry I can't remember who you are) gave me a recipe for puppy porridge, I can't find it now :( Does anyone have a recipe please? Or any other weaning tips?
Thank you :)
i use baby rice mixed with goats milk depending on there age runny if very young un then when there use to it i give raw mince meat that as been frozen and then defrosted ...tiny peices so they dont choke and then i start to add the food that im going to be feeding them on (soaked kibbles)till its just socked kibble .....hope this helps :) x
Pedigree do a puppy porridge which I have used but recently have used a hand blender to make soaked complete into a paste and added Whelpi etc in it, it goes down well even though its a bit messy but mum does love cleaning up pups after.

I dont know a recipe but can recommend the Pedigree Chum puppy porridge, mine loved it and thrived very well on it.
papillon where do you get chum puppy porridge from? plz x
thanks for that ,ill be useing that with our next litter due in 6weeks (fingers crossed) :)
I use baby dog royal canin and mush it down by pouring water over same and then draining once food is soft..
ive been told good things about this 1 CLOUGHROE whats the cost of it plz ?

I think that might have been me Blossom. Soak whichever complete puppy feed you are using until it is crumbly but not mushy. I find it best to add hot water a couple of tablespoons at a time and stir it until the water has been absorbed then test to see if a piece of the food crumbles when you squash it. When you reach that stage, whizz it in the blender, (or mash with a fork if you don't have a blender), then add an equal amount of puppy milk powder and put the whole lot in an airtight container and use as required. To use, place however much you need per puppy in a bowl and add warm water to make it a porridge like consistency. I usually make 3 days supply at one time. It may seem fiddly initially, but once you get used to how much hot water you need to make the complete feed crumbly, then it takes no time at all and is much much cheaper than buying it ready prepared.
I think it is 24 fir a 60x40 or 5 pieces same size for 118

I believe the advise for baby milk is no more than 24 hours, so that is what I follow too.

The way I read it, it was the milk powder added that was put in the fridge not the made up formula - maybe I am wrong though?
Thanks for that Saxon - it was you I remember now :)

Yes, but it had been mixed with moist food at that point so no longer preserved as it would be in its dehydrated form.

Oh I see, ta :)
The food costs about 60 euro a bag,,hope this helps, pups thrive on it and it means they stay on what they are started on only diference is it isnt softened by water.
