Topic Dog Boards / Feeding / DDB puppy how much should i feed her????
- By tankandboo [gb] Date 31.01.09 23:00 UTC
I've just gota 7 week old DDB puppy and not sure how much to feed her. The breeder has given us a list of what to feed her but not how much. We are changing her to barf anyway but just wondering if anyone knows the % of body weight she should be fed per day. I feed my boxer 3% of his bodyweight per day but was wondering if its more for puppies?

What are you feeding her?

The old rule was that you fed ¾ ounce of food per pound bodyweight for a growing puppy, reducing to ½ ounce of food per pound maintenance for an adult.

at the moment we are feeding her a small cup of eukanuba dry puppy food with a bit of cooked mince or scrambled egg 4 times a day as this is what the breeder was feeding her. We gave her a chicken wing aswel today and she loved it. Should we change to barf quickly or slowly?

How much does she weigh, and how much does the food weigh?

I have no idea about barf because I don't feed that way; I'm sure someone who does will be along soon to advise you.

'About' 5 kilos is 'about' 11 pounds. By the old rule she should be getting 'about' 8½ ounces of food a day (a bit more than half a pound) or 'about' 240 grams. So if your figures are correct she's getting about the right amount. Make sure you weigh her weekly and increase her food proportionately.
