Our 14 year old Jack Russell has recently been suffering from fits, up to 5 times a day. He is now on medication to try and control the fits. Unfortunately, he now just wanders around the house howling and not appearing to recognise any sight or sound. He is totally unaware of any hygiene control and refuses to sleep. Please tell me what is wrong?

Greetings,
I'm sorry to hear about your dog :( It sounds as if the dr. is medicating him, but does the dr. know the latest about what you're describing? It could be that the medicine is too strong, the wrong dose, he's had too many seizures etc...
Please discuss this with your vet as soon as possible. It's not healthy to try and diagnose something as serious like this over the internet. If your vet is not willing to help, get a second opinion.

Canine Epi-Angels is a wonderful site that can provide a lot of information for you. I hope it helps you understand more about what's happening to your dog.
best wishes and sympathies,
toodles
