Topic Dog Boards / General / BRS - How much?
- By Lily Mc [gb] Date 28.01.09 16:25 UTC
Have just got my BRS renewal letter through? It's £24 per group - is this a big jump from £20, or did I just not notice last year?

Think I need to set up a 'co-operative' to split an all groups subscription LOL.

I wish they would put it on line.  Even if it was subscription they should be able to offer it for a lot less without the printing costs.

Just got mine too, unlikely to renew.

So is it a £4 jump, Jean? I normally take two groups - one for my own breed and one for a breed I have an interest in but don't own - getting to be too much of a luxury now, really.

I wish they'd put it on line too.

Yes, and I just felt that the jump was a little too much.  I'm not being tight, I spend huge amounts on my dogs, and all things dog related, but I am wondering if I really find the BRS a necessity.  It's £24 for one group and £48 for two groups.  At a time when most folk are having to tighten their belts, I just feel this would be one of the first things to go for me personally.  Yes, would love it on line too.  If it worked out a decent price that way, I could even take Pastoral, Toy and Utility!!  (£72 at the moment!)

Sorry, I am being dumb, what is BRS???

Course it is. Just home from work and dont think that my brain is in CD gear yet. Thanks! :)

Well Jean and I clashing on Pastoral at the moment, but if we had someone (who is about to renew or subscribe) for each group it would work out at a bit over £10 per group plus postage if someone took all the groups and then sent them on.

Pastoral a must have for me, Working a nice to have ... anyone else want to shout for any? LOL

Sorry M I'm due to renew as well but we can't share the same one. I will just have to bite the bullet and get on with it. The other thing thats annoying me is The KC gazette you now have to become an affiliate to take out a subscription to that with an increase of £3 a year there aswell.

Like your way of thinking!

What I can't get is that they can provide all seven groups for £72, even though I'm sure they'd all be posted separately anyway.

Now the Gazette I can live without and often wonder why I bother, but I'm too darn nosey not to have the Pastoral BRS LOL. I shan't be becoming an affiliate though, so if that's mandated when I renew, I shan't bother.

Utility for me please.
Im happy to sort it if everyone else will take the other breeds.
- By JeanSW Date 28.01.09 22:33 UTC
ok Carolyn, if you put me down for Toy please,  and fingers crossed that the other groups can be covered between us.
- By Lily Mc [gb] Date 28.01.09 22:55 UTC
Pastoral and Working for me please (although this is from Spring 2009, not the issue due out shortly, and assume Jean's the same if she's just received her letter).

Thanks - would also have been happy to do it.

Are you going to PM us your details?

If no-one has claimed Gundogs.. I will come in on those :-)
- By LindyLou [gb] Date 29.01.09 08:44 UTC
My birthday present this year is a years subscription to the Gundog BRS. :-D Much better than the electric drill I got one year ;-)

It would be nice to look on-line though.

I'll happily chip in for the Utility BRS - German spitz pages for me please! :)

Utility taken by Carolyn, Kate - unless she wants to split your breed pages?

I think it's just Terrier and Hound outstanding. Any takers?

M.
- By CALI2 [gb] Date 29.01.09 10:01 UTC
I'll do the hound if nobody else has taken it yet!
- By AliceC Date 29.01.09 10:32 UTC
Hi M,

Do they definitely provide all 7 groups for £72? I was going to ring and ask the KC that to check for definite. I am only really interested in pastoral, and trying to convince myself that £72 is too much to spend on just being nosey. :-)
- By Lily Mc [eu] Date 29.01.09 10:38 UTC
Anyone for Terrier ... ?!

Alice, one group is £24, two groups £48, 'three or more groups £72' - that's certainly the way that I read it. Do others agree?

M.
- By AliceC Date 29.01.09 10:43 UTC
Thats the way I read it too...will ring KC to confirm and let you know!!
- By Lily Mc [eu] Date 29.01.09 10:45 UTC
Don't tell them why you're asking, Alice!

Lily Mc  I'll take the terrier group.. :-)
- By AliceC Date 29.01.09 12:09 UTC
Well I'm going to go for all 7 but will only need Pastoral to keep, so if anyone who hasn't already asked wants any of the remaining six, please let me know!!
- By montymoo [gb] Date 29.01.09 19:41 UTC
i,d be interested in the toy
- By breehant Date 29.01.09 20:46 UTC

- By Ems Mum [gb] Date 29.01.09 20:55 UTC
Pastoral for me please
- By Polly [gb] Date 29.01.09 22:37 UTC
I  have been doing a BRS split for many years. Our group needs to find somebody to take the terrier group as well. So if anybody out there wants the terrier group please contact me.
