Topic Dog Boards / General / Raised Pet Feeder?
- By hairypooch Date 29.01.09 14:10 UTC
Hi,

I am totally exasperated! I am trying to purchase 2 Raised dog feeding stands - bowls included - (height max 50 cm) from a website but however hard I try they don't seem to want to take my money. I've tried paying with several different cards but I always get an error message. I've contacted the Company concerned and all they say is 'check your details again' eeuuurrrhhh - I'm nearly bald from all the hair pulling.

Right, finally onto the question. Can anybody recommend a site/product that I can buy these blessed things from? The ones that I was going to buy cost £31.00 with free next day delivery.

Jo

i have danes and the largest one i can find is one from pets at home. it stands at 14 inches..
- By hairypooch Date 29.01.09 14:15 UTC
Thanks for that ;-) but I'm quite happy with the height as there were 3 sizes to choose from and that's the right height for me. What I want to find is an actual website that stocks the product and will actually take my money and deliver me the goods without any headaches.

You would think that it would be easy to spend money..........<sighs>

ha ha, dont pets at home sell online? i try my best not to do it as my wages would be gone on payday and the cupboards would be bare apart from dog treats.. ha ha

i used to make them myself £1 for the metal and 10 mins with the welder! Failing that buy some cheap kitchen pedal wastebins and remove the flip up lid and put bowl in top. Voila!!!

eh thats a fantastic idea....

Re the error messages.  I had this over Christmas with one card when there wasn't enough money in the account - oops!  I also had it last week as my card is nearing it's expiry date.  The bank haven't issued the new one yet but the company I was buying through say they need a minimum of time as they don't invoice til despatch and blah blah....  I think it also comes up when they have issues their end - seems to be a standard message!  If all else fails - log out completely and start again - sometimes that's enough to kick start it

You could try eBay as you might find Paypal easier as a method of payment and I've seen raised feeders on there.  Amazon is also a good site for payments, I've never had any difficulty with their payment system.

As Sam says, bins are great.  When we stay at a Travelodge the bathroom bin is perfect, ugly, but heavy and the perfect size for my boy.  I keep thinking that one day it might be nice to liberate one (oh! hush my mouth!) :)

Don't know about websites for them - got mine at a show, think it was the Luxway stand, Google them, they might do online sales too. :-)

What browser are you using?

I have found that the payment part of some websites have problems when using Firefox (which I use 99% of the time) so I have to switch to IE.

Now that's interesting:  I'm Firefox too.  I never realised that was an issue, although I can never get into the Tesco site and have to change to IE

Thanks for the tip off - maybe I did have money in my account after all - I just assumed...   (and you know what they say about that!!) :)

I'm using IE :-)  And I've definitely got enough funds in the accounts that I tried to pay with....I checked - phew <wipes brow> :-D I've logged in and out of that site so many times I've repetitive strain injury :-D

No seriously, it makes me really irritated when I want to buy something and the site are tardy at getting back to me. How do these people stay in business? Oh well, I'll search around some more and see if I can get the same thing without all the hassle.

Thanks everyone :-)

'Ello, 'ello, 'ello stranger ;)

Wont the company take your card details over the phone?  One of my debit cards has a number that seems too long for most internet vendors and I either have to phone them direct or use an alternative card.

No help where to source what you're after - raised bowls in our house means they're on the dining table

Luxway (http://www.luxwaycanine.com/products.asp?cat=16) is where I got mine, varying sizes available - up to 21 inches I think. From the link, 2nd up from the bottom on the left.

Greetings ;-)

>>Wont the company take your card details over the phone?<<

No, tried that.....it would be too easy for them wouldn't it? 'They are not allowed to take payment over the phone' me being a simpleton asked why not and it seems that they don't know they're just not.

Trouble is, I've searched around other sites and they just don't do the options on style and size. Me talking about it as if it's a fashion accessory instead of a basic quite boring item. Ahh 'tis been too long since I've hit the high street me thinks. But I will now toddle off and have a look at the link that has been kindly given to me - fingers crossed I will succeed yet! I love a challenge me.....:-D

If it makes you feel better I'll happily take your cash or card hun (what are friends for after all).  I can't necessarily provide the goods but shopping mall here I come and I'll be feeling LOADS better just knowing you don't feel as though your cash aint good enuff  (perish the thought :-p )
- By hairypooch Date 30.01.09 15:00 UTC
<hands over debit card> and while you're there can you please look for 2 raised feeders for me? <begging, pleading look> :-D :-D It would be worth paying you a 'commission' (say 20%) if you can source the blessed things ;-)
- By Tigger2 Date 30.01.09 15:06 UTC
Ebay?

When I was looking at raised feeders I found that a bunch of companies all have them listed as different things!!  As if life were not complicated enough...

Try elevated / high / adjustable / or ergonomic feeder/s/bowl/s

I finally opted for the sort I could hook onto crates.  Actually easier for me as they have crates under the worksurface and I can attach the bowls onto the outside at convenient heights and not lose floor space.

Watch out for the sort of classic version you slot together for yourself.  I bought one for travelling and it doesn't fit very well and is a bit wobbly.  Did you know Argos sell one?

If all else fails PM a few of us the site you are looking at and we can all indulge our sleuthing skills on your behalf!!
- By hairypooch Date 30.01.09 15:48 UTC
Hearty thank yous for that ;-)

The one in Argos looks a similar design to the one that I was trying to buy. I just worry that with my 2 morons they'll have the things in pieces the first time we use them, not because they're destructive but they are very clumsy - they could wreck an empty house in minutes by walking into walls - But...I digress. If I can't solve it very soon I will PM you the site :-)

look out for Lidls when they have them  much cheaper than i've ever seen at a Champ show. well worth the money, strong and robust.
- By rjs [gb] Date 30.01.09 16:28 UTC
I have a couple of these ones and although you can store food in them, which would weigh them down, mine are empty and have only been knocked over once by a pup making sure he had eaten every last scrap of food! They don't come with bowls though.

hi

dont know if you have looked but there are some very good strong ones in various sizes on ebay not sure if they are cheaper but might be worth a look. i personally dont buy animal stuff from argos anymore i bought some scratch posts (for the cat lol) and they fell apart in days.

THANKS SAM, SAT I WENT AND BOUGHT ALL DOGS THE CORRECT SIZE FEEDER (YOU CAN NEVER FIND INEXPENSIVE DANE SIZED FEEDERS) FOR ALL 4 DOGS AT A COST OF 6 EACH. THE IDEA OF A FLIP BIN AND POPPING THE BOWL IN WAS GREAT.
