Have you go in touch with your local medical school or University?  Genetics is going to be the same principles across the animal kingdom in particular with mammals.

Your vet should be able to put you in touch with one, infact they may not accept a referral directly.

You could contact the Kennel club geneticist for assistance in finding one.
