I took my bitch to her vet appointment today and he said everything seemed to be fine, we had another ultrasound and it looks as if there are 2 and a possible third pup, but they are all very small so we might not have to csection. I made an incubator box last night, and i have all my equipment ready, as well as having watching a billion and 1 youtube births last night. See im not irresponsible. I had to come back and prove it!
also her temp has been 99 to 98 for 3 days, and my bitches vet said temperature is not a huge indicator in my smaller breed. So i will have to wait it out, and i can thankfully put the thermometer aside. She has been eating very well and is still active. im too excited, but scared too.

welcome back! Glad to hear she is doing well. My girl (not your breed) i was told they were small and several so she was unlikely to need a csection. She delivered 3 herself then finished with 2 needing a csection due to exhaustion. She is a small breed too.
I am no expert as only just have my first litter but good luck and become an info junky, you will need to know as much as you can cram so you are confident on the day.
There are lots of experts here should you have any last minute questions x
glad to hear shes doing well , she will go off her food before she as pups ,good luck :) x
i still have lots of questions, but i have to pick n choose which ones are too "dumb". Im glad to hear you have healthy pups!! Im so scared of fading pups i think i will lose it if i lose one. But my bitch is most important right now. The one thing im afraid of is a silent birth! I sometimes am in a flurry of activities and i dont want to miss a thing, but my bitch is very quiet and im scared she willstart without me
Hi, well i can only tell you what happened to me....they are all so different. Dont be afraid of dumb questions, i asked questions i knew the answers to cause i needed reassurance, it is better to check then to wander.
As for a silent birth, well can i suggest you dont leave her alone night or day now. i slept with her the week before and when she started scratching and panting it became obvious. You need dog sitters to go out now! Dont let her disapear outside or she may find her own whelping area.
As for losing pups, i lost one under the csection. I had 4 more to concentrate on and one was small and weak. I focused on her, ensuring she was latched on and feeding supervised every two hours. She is still the smallest and i still ensure she gets latched on first and i am still with her 24/7.
Again, i only have one very stressful birth experience to share, i am not the expert.
just keep her close with u now day and night and im sure u will hear her :) ive lost a pup to fading puppy sindrom and its heart breaking i cried for about aweek after but i still had 9 more pups to think about and the worry that thay would also come down with it ...put it this way i lost 1 1/2 stone with my last lot of pups ...that was 6months ago now ,she had 12 pups all together and 2 where dead at birth :( just make sure u got your vets number on fast dial if needed ,x
Oh im not leaving the house for the next 15 days!!!! My bitch has been giving me false labor signs all night, scratching, licking herself. And then she just falls asleep. She is an inside dog most of the time, and especially now. She has her whelping box ready, as well as the after whelping box. *with the transfer of something with a familiar smell of course*. My stud is very much attatched to her so im letting them spend as much time together as possible because after she whelps he will have to stay in his kennel. When will it be ok for him to meet the puppies?
what day is she on? When is day 63?
today is 49-51 ( wasnt positive of conception date) but my breed is usually a week early.
well i wait till pups are starting to move about but your girl might not like dad being there for awhile longer she will let you know and him if she dont want him around ,just make sure when she starts hes away from her is she sleeping in her whelping box now so she knows thats where shes going to have pups ? let her have lots of paper in there so she can rip it up :) x
i think she may have another few days yet ,well let hope :)
It is really really early so hopefully she is just practicing. You dont want them more than a week early so day 57 onwards and she will probably hold on.
I went through this thinking she was going to be early, she had them 5 days early in the end but i was on edge from about 10 days early!!!
same here then she went on for afew more days and was 3days early :)
I am on edge, they seem to be fistey little babies because they are kicking up a storm, i thought that was normal?
have you got the book of bitch i got mine from pets at home it was £10 and the money ever spent it will help u and you can have it at the side of you when your girl starts to have the pups it will help u stay calm :)
yes thats normall to see them kicking around inside mum i loved to sit with my girl feeling them playing lol

I've just ordered the book of the bitch off Amazon for £6.97 with free postage, great value
it is normal for them to be visibly kicking around.
White lilly is right. I actually had the book of the bitch next to me when it all kicked off - it is a bit mucky now but i checked things were normal between puppies, kept me calm! Mind by the time it happened i could recite that book but it still sat next to me on the floor that night :)
wow loucon good price :) ive got mine at the side of me lol its soooo dirty at mo as my mum in law had it to read with her litter lol but i was still called to go around and i ended up helping her girl have 5 healthy pups :)
thats great indapendent1 it will help you so much :) x
i hope so, i want the best for my bitch. With such small pups i dont think the baby nose booger sucker might be too big, is there any alternative?
> My stud is very much attatched to her so im letting them spend as much time together as possible because after she whelps he will have to stay in his kennel. When will it be ok for him to meet the puppies?
Generally your bitch will not want any dog near her while she is in labour and for the time until the pups eyes are open at least, she will need a safe den-like place away from other animals and people.
After that she may tolerate another dog in the same room, or maybe not, gradually as the pups become more independent she will allow the other dog more interaction. Many male dogs will be frightened of pups as they Will mob him and try to find a milk bar, or use him as a prey toy.

>I do have a baby booger sucker, but it looks much too big,
gently place your mouth over puppies nose and suck (its like sucking water out of a face flannel) spit.. wipe your own tongue with clean face cloth, brush teeth and rinse with mouthwash.. its not as bad as it sounds. but when all mechanical/hand held devices fail you... suck it up.. literally ;-)
LJS you do seem to be having a good dig - not sure if you were here last night but the OP has had her fair share of info on what the ideal situation would be for her.....now, she just needs help.

Good luck.

Your dogs have outside kennels

? Your male is now a "stud"

I thought were your small toy breed pets ?

To be honest if I was that inexperienced and reading the other thread then I would be also worried and not posting on here and getting expert help with the breed of dog she has ;-)

Really Kayc! Well that does sound a bit Yak but suppose you have to be ready for every eventuality! lol
ya lol it is a bitter taste :)

No I wasn't here last night but fluffy albiet nice will be lovely and much needed support but more practical experience is needed for the sake of her bitch :-)
Yes you are righ tthis was an unplanned pregnancy and i never meant for my little bitch to have puppies, i thought my stud would be neutered before she could get preggers. I am happy nonetheless. I am blessed to have the open schedule to deal with such situations. P.S. i have no further plans of breeding dogs, cats are my forte.
yes we know all this JL:)JLS
