Hello,
I have just fostered a 4 year old American cocker spaniel who will be going to his forever home on Friday but when i take him for a walk he growls at other dogs on and off the lead..his tail wags in excitement and he only wants to play but other dogs think he's being aggressive and start a fight.
He tries to chase other dogs playing but growls at the same time then is a bit put out when he gets into a fight.
He was in the dogs home for 8 weeks and prior to this was with a family who said they didn't realise he needed to be walked so after 4 years gave him away.
He is fine in my house with my dog and also in my friends house with her 2 so what can i do about his behaviour when out..i'd love his new owner not to have this problem when she adopts him.
Many thanks

Even a 4 year old can learn doggie etiquette and playing with good mannered dogs will teach him loads.
The 'giving out mixed signals' thing can be ironed out by a stable, confident doggie friend.
I'm sure you could help by sharing the insight you've gained by having him.
Best wishes for the boy's future.
