Hey guys- Stormy and I have survived our move to Australia! The pup is still in quarantine (18 days until she is free) which is killing me, but she seems happy enough and has settled in surprisingly well for a Weim. She landed the day before the hottest day recorded since the 60's which is pretty unlucky, but she is coping with the heat like a true Aussie. Now I am just counting down the days until we can go to the beach and actually go in the water without getting frostbite!! :-)

Hey...I didn't know you were going...18 days will fly by I suppose you need to settle and sort stuff anyway. Do you get to see her? Do you have a local dog friendly beach and does she like swimming?
Good luck in your relocation.

Karen :)

It has been kinda nice not having to worry about her while I get settled, but I would rather have her here with me. I can go and see her Mon-Fri 11:30-12:30, the hottest part of the day which is ridiculous. I usually just go and sit in her kennel and have cuddles as it's too hot to go outside. Luckily there are loads of dog friendly beaches for when she gets out plus we can also go to visit my mum and dad who live on a farm with two other dogs for her to play with. Just counting down the days :-)

>>>>>>>Tims Tams and lamingtons for everyone- possibly a bit melted though!<<<<<<<<<

Here was me thinking I was CD'ing under the radar! I won't make you too jealous, but let's just say the weather is fab (if you like it very warm), the food is cheaper and FRESH, petrol is less than half the price of London and it's amazing how being around your family can put you right back on track! Stormy and I broke up with the OH before we left, so that was all really tough but she kept me sane and gave me lots of cuddles just when I needed them. Now 'we' are back with Mum, Dad, sister and brother as support and all dying to meet little miss Stormy. Mum has already bought her a million new toys and blankeys which is lucky because she is chewing her way through a few toys a day in quarantine (don't want to think about how bored she is :-() So life is back on track... just in time to celebrate Australia Day tomorrow- roll on the BBQ and sunburn!!

Bad bits: There is no Weim club in Perth and finding show schedules is practically impossible so I am going to gatecrash a show tomorrow and see if anyone will help me out!

Thanks for your lovely post HG- I hope you and your lovely pooches are all doing well! :-D

Hi Sam- she is in Perth/Byford quarantine. If you need me to contact the NSW guys for you (I know the time difference can be a nightmare) then just say the word.

Hi kiddo,

so pleased you've settled in as quickly (it's that kind of place of course LOL).  Sorry about the split but you've got a fabulous new start in an ace place and great to hear you sounding so positive :) :) :)

Thanks to CD we can all keep in touch and enjoy (tinged with a little green!) your news and updates.

Have a blast! Teri x

Thanks Teri! It's a lot easier to see the brighter side of life when you have friends and family all there to back you up. I was totally out numbered in London and didn't fair so well with the break up (financially) so have had to cut my losses and stay positive. When it all boils down, I got the most important item that we owned... which is Stormy. All he has now is an empty house full of memories!

I have been itching to get back on here... I used to be on every single day, so it is taking me ages to catch up on all the news :-)

:-D xxx

Hi Stormy!  May I ask - have you emigrated?
Don't wanna ask too many personal questions, as your last post implies a difficult time.
But, I'm about to emigrate to the other side myself before too long and would love to hear about your experiences and so on.
Very best of luck with your move to Perth - I'll be over there on a reccy at the beginning of March myself!!

Hi TT. I am actually an Australian citizen and have been living in the UK on an ancentral visa as my grandparents were British. I grew up in Aus and then moved to the UK when I was 19... been there over 5 years which seems like an enternity now I look back! Please feel free to ask questions about Perth/Aus if you think I may be of use to you!!? My one big tip if you are bringing your dogs is to 1) send them ahead of you so when you arrive they are ready to come out, it's all very well saying you will go and visit them, but the quarantine station is way out of town and the visiting hours are rubbish, 2) don't send them in the middle of summer like I have- poor little Stormy went from -5 in London to 43 degrees in Perth, she is ok but I was a huge oversight on my part and lastly 3) Perth quarantine is small so book your spaces super early (I had to wait 3 months for a spot!)

You have chosen a great time to come and visit, it will still be warm but not ridiculous like it is right now! Keep me posted on how you are getting on and always feel free to ask me questions :-)

Hey there!
Yes, think our hand was forced a bit, but it does seem like the weather should be cooling down (a little!) by the time we get out there.
Visiting relatives in Gosnells/Armadale area of Perth initially for a week, then flying over to Gold Coast to stay with friends, look at some land, acreage plots and so on...
I agree re: getting the dogs over first, as our Q Station will be Sydney, so quite a distance from where we're going to be based in the Gold Coast.  This area is our initial choice to settle, but we'll see :-)  So many lovely places to choose from!

I think time-wise it is probably going to be around Winter time (Australian winter time) that we'll finally be over permanently.
We were hoping it would be now, but house isn't selling, etc.
I shan't get started about my frustrations as I probably won't stop!! lol
Thanks
