Just wondering which you think is the best replacement puppy milk - I understand it is a matter of opinion so I guess my question should be.......
Which puppy formula do you use?

Nutrolac, it is made from goats milk rather than a modified cows milk.

i have used most over the years but have settled on royal canin as my favourite...it mixes well, i have never had a lose pup whilst on it, and they all do well on it.
Hi,
I make up my own. Recipe used from Juliette de Bäiracli Levy's Super Health Puppy Food : Ground organic barley flakes, ground aniseed, ground almonds, slippery elm and I used to use honey but have switched to Barley Malt Extract in Goat's Milk. They do very well on it, - no looseness, no sickness, it is excellent, but, I have to admit, labour intensive, but then so is proper puppy rearing anyway!

Cor I imagine that is rather labour intensive - I wouldn't even know where to start, or where to get the ingredients lol. It sounds quite nice though!!

She's my heroine, it's nice to hear that other people think she's got the right idea on feeding and rearing dogs, and people for that matter. Her books are wonderful.

I've done a quick search for the book mentioned here - but I can't find it :(

if i have to hejp feed my babies, i use carnation milk, cooled boiled water and honey.
i di half and half wit hust a little honey.
I have reared a couple of litters with this.
I use skinners puppy milk never had a problem and usually the bitch likes it too , comes in a 5kg tub great for giant breeds

I found that by five or 6 weeks the Skinners made my pups loose.
I found Litterlac excellent (no looseness, comes in 5kg packs) but now use Nutrolac (which comes in 2.5kg tubs) which is formulated from Goats milk rather than cows. Never any looseness with this no matter what age they are given it.

Do any of you give your newly whelped bitches formula to drink as she raises her litter?
yes i do too ,my girls love it and it help them when thay dont feel up to eating in the 1st few day after whelping !!
Hi Blossom,
It was the only thing my girl would eat/drink for the first 2 days. i put a raw egg in it too and warmed it slightly and it went down x
We use lamblac from agricultural co op
