Hi all,
Just a quickie to see if anyone has any suggestions/advice/experience with this. We recently found a growth on freyas head near her ear.The vet has said shes 99% sure its a wart and that its not worth removing for all the stress that would cause her. In general she doesn't seem bothered by it but i wondered if anyone treated their own pups for warts or had any advice.
We just check it once a week and make sure she hasn't caught it.
Thanks in advance
Marie and little Kieran

How old is she? It's common in older dogs. My 14 year old Cavalier has quite a few. One behind his ear which is now growing quite large, one on top of his head, one on his paw, one on his side. Occasionally they bleed but that is rare, perhaps every few months or so. He's far too old and frail with his heart to have them removed and most of the time they don't bother him at all. My 13 year old Golden has just got a large one on his side and again I'm just leaving it alone. The only time I've had one removed was on a Golden when it was on her eyelid as when it grew bigger it rubbed on the eye.

My 4 year old flat coat had one removed this summer on the advice of the vet. I think partly because flat coats are prone to cancer and vets worry about any lumpy bits. The histology result came back as a wart, apparently caused by a virus, which is more common in younger dogs and puppies.
