Hi  i am awaiting scan for my girl but just wanted to know what you do after the birth.I have been advised to get some colo d
in and give to her for a few weeks after the birth to avoid mastitis.Would you also give diluted goats milk or is that too much
giving both.I have had two litters before and did not have any problems but it seems the more you read the more you worry.
What do you all do

I would not supplement with the Vitamin D and calcium unless the bitch was diagnosed with a deficiency.  By giving the supplement it can stop the body rallying it's own resources as it should.

I do give goats milk puppy milk about half a pint in the first few days unless bitch is too loose.

Mine are on ad-lib (probably about 4 times their normal rations) from the word go.

As to what I do post whelping, stick matchsticks in the eyelids and watch Mum and pups like a hawk.
