Topic Dog Boards / Health / wibbly leg
- By ali-t [gb] Date 21.01.09 20:35 UTC
I have a query about my pups leg which is always a bit wibbly when he sits down.  It can be either leg and it twitches a bit when he is sitting.

I have noticed it since I got him and have no idea what it is although he was checked by the vet both times he went in for his vaccinations who never commented on it (but I forgot to mention it).  A friend said to me it is just when he is sitting a certain way and the nerve makes it twitch but I am not sure if that is correct.  Any clues?

funny but sometimes when my ES is sitting one of his front legs trembles. If I poke or prod it he just looks at me as if I'm stupid! No problems when walking etc either. Maybe it's like us when we have a twitch!

The front legs of dogs, adult and puppy, do tremble if they sit with the pastern pushed forward and it is not a problem. Not sure about the hind legs but as with anything else if you are concerned ask your vet rather than worry which I see you have.

That's exactly what my pup used to do, sit and wobble one front leg, she dose not do it anymore and she has nice strong healthy legs :)

he is still all of a wibble but doing great.  He had his first chicken wing today which went down a treat and has started going for short walks with my other dog which he is loving.  Hopefully the leg will settle as he gets older.  Thanks .

Thats good news, is your pup the rottie hun? If so short walks for now, no up and down stairs, (till aprox a yr) and be carefull of to much rough and tumble, they have so much growing in such a short space of time, This was all good sound advice i was passed on from my 1st breeder quite some yrs ago hun, (same applys to all large breeds),
My big lad is having a hard time with furunclosis Disease at present,.
Wishing you lots of happy times ahead with your pup.x

Hi tracy, yes he is a rottie.  he doesn't know how to go down stairs and i am quite happy to keep it like that.  It means my other dog can escape up the stairs away from him.  I even had to carry him down the stairs at his first puppy class last week - aaaw the wee lamb.

HA HA HA, HE SOUNDS FUN, GOD MY BIG BOY WAS A LOON WHEN YOUNGER, HE WAS THE NAUGHTIEST AND MOST DOMINANT PUP IVE HAD, THE DOMINANCE DID NOT LAST LONG, BUT HE IS STIL FULL A MISCHIEF, WHICH I LOVE ABOUT HIM BUT WHEN HIS FURUNCULOSIS BREAKS OUT HE IS VERY QUIET,
HOW OLD IS YOUR BOY?- SEND ME A PIC OR 2 TO MY E-MAIL ADD, ITS GOOD THAT YOUR OTHER DOG HAS A PLACE TO ESCAPE,  THAT WAY IT GIVES UR PUP TIME OUT TO SLEEP AND GET ON WITH HIS GROWING, HA HA HA. WHAT IS HIS NAME HUN AND HOW OLD IS HE, ?
TYLER HAS HAD HIS MORNING WALKIES AND BANDAGES CHANGED, AND ALL IS QUIET, HAVE A GREAT DAY. TRACY.X
