Topic Dog Boards / Feeding / Are fish oils important for a dogs diet?

and if so, which oils are best?

I'm confused as to whether or not I should be adding any sort of oil to my dogs diet.

Some people say cod liver oil is ok, some say not.  What sort of dose is ok?

Fish body oil has to be fed with vit E, but how much of each?

Salmon oil -  don't know much about this, but it sounds good!

I usually give the dogs a tin of sardines between them twice a week, but is this enough to do any good?

My dogs don't have any problems apart from moulting quite a bit but I think thats quite normal for Labs,  but if a bit of extra oil was beneficial

for coat condition or to help with avoiding joint problems, I would be more than willing to supplement.  Just not sure whether it's worth it or

not.

Any thoughts either way?

Thanks

I do give my 3  fish4dogs salmon oil and i think it does make a difference to their coats , the old girl has it for her joints , i dont think it can do any harm , they have 2x 5ml teaspoons every day
