One of my puppy owners sent me an email below asking if bulgaria was part of the pet passport scheme i think it is but not sure and wondered if anyone on here would know.

I wondered if you knew for definite if I wanted to take her with me on holiday abroad to Bulgaria to my house and I got her a passport sorted, if she would have to be kept in quarantine before we return to the UK, as I have heard from some people they think that is the case,I would not want to take her away if I couldnt bring her straight back with me.

I have tried asking DEFRA, and get conflicting information from each person I have spoken to.
Could you let me know if you can find out anything

yes it is. the DEFRA Pet Passport site lists all the countries in the world. all the EU countries count.

Pet Passport is the whole EU. Bulgaria is EU. website is correct

maybe its to do with where you live?

I too have a place in Bulgaria, and so i plan to take mine this year,and bring her back , she had her passport done in 2007, but hasn't used it yet so i have to double and triple check, before we go, but as far as i knew it would be fine to take her, now im not sure after what they have told your puppy owners, so i will investigate further and let you know what i am told. I too understood that as Bulgaria is part of the EU it would be fine.

bulgaria is fine for the pet passport.

its clearly stated on the DEFRA website, i wouldnt take nay notice of ill-trained office jobbies.
