MY 5 MNTH OLD YORKIE IS GOOD AT USING THE GARDEN FIRST THING IN THE MORNING DOING POOHS AND WEES BUT DOESN'T DO ANYTHING UNLESS IM OUT THERE WITH HER, PLUS SHE HAS HAD THE CHEEK TO ACTUALLY SQUAT DOWN IN FRONT OF ME IN MY LIVING ROOM TO DO A POOH. i SAID A LOUD AHHHH AND MANAGED TO GET HER TO THE GARDEN BEFORE ANYTHING LANDED ON MY CARPET, BUT I STAYED OUTSIDE WITH HER FOR ABOUT 45 MINUTES AND SHE REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING. aNY SUGGESTIONS/HELP TO HOUSE BREAK HER. sHE IS ALSO BARKING WHEN i PUT HER TO BED FOR THE PAST THREE WEEKS.
i HAVE BEEN HERE BEFORE WITH HOUSE TRAINING WITH MY WESTIE THAT I HAD, BUT I CANT REMEMBER HOW LONG IT TOOK BEFORE HE WAS TRAINED, ALL I KNOW IS THAT WHEN HE WAS HE NEVER LOOKED BACK, AM I EXPECTING TOO MUCH TOO SOON. ALSO WITH THE BARKING THING WOULD IT BE A GOOD IDEA TO GET ONE OF THOSE CRATES, BECAUSE IF THE DOG WAS IN THE BEDROOM WITH ME, SHE WOULDN'T BARK BUT I CAN'T ALLOW THIS ALL THE TIME SHES POOHING A WEEING ALL OVER THE GAFF. IVE ALREADY EXPERIENCE POOH STUCK TO THE BOTTOM OF MY BARE FOOT.

Keep her in a kennel in your room if you have to. You can also keep her on lead in the house, this way where ever you go she goes to, thats how I house trained one of my dogs. Take her to the same spot outside and leave a poop there this way she knows that is her spot to go, use the same word (hurry up, go pee ect.) but always the same word, lots of praise even a treat can help. As for barking teach her stop command. If she barks ex. someone comes to the door, praise her then tell her stop, Keeping her on lead with a correction to tell her stop works to, or putting your hand over her muzzle and say stop. When she does praise. You can also put her in a down position this works to and tell her stop and don't forget to praise.

DEBBIE 1 thing i would never do is take a pup to bed with me you are asking for trouble, i would leave plenty of newspaper near pups bed and gradualy take the paper near the door, keep putting the pup outside every half hr when you are in and it would get used to this. have you tryed the puppy training spray that you can get it helps them to wee where you want them to and not all over your carpets. she will learn eventually. i have just had 8 pups pee and poo in my kitchen and it drove me nuts having poo in between my toes.

hi i do have the training spray, and have even used it in the garden. she seem to know what the back door is for with or without newspaper but only if she is refined to the kitchen where the back door is, and last night I went to bed at 10 30 and mitzi was still screaming at 2 30, this drove me nuts and i did go and get her if only to get a few hours sleep myself and my neighbours, but woke up to pooh

Because when she has been crying you have gone to fetch her it sounds to me like she knows this, so why not cry some more and mum will fetch me. Have you tryed putting your dirty socks in with her so she can smell you on a night, one of my pups new owners did this and she stopped crying after a couple of days. the crying would drive me nuts, i had it with 8 pups every morning at 6am so i put a black towel over the shed window to stop the light geting in, this worked but only till 7.30am. at least they let me have a little lie in.
With pups you need to start as you mean to go on, which can be hard when you are so shattered. I hope you get her to stop crying. you can always email me if you like, DbBowness@aol.com

hi, because of lack of sleep i gave in and let her in with the kids and never heard a sound. she did one wee on training mat in bedroom, one on newspaper downstairs near back door and one pooh on the landing. I really dont mind her upstairs its just that shes notbhoue trained that bothers me and as for the smelly socks, i was so knacketred that i ripped off me dressing gown and gave it to her
