ok, slightly strange one... its my bestest friends birthday in a couple of weeks. she is from Yorkshire originally and always talks about days out she had in Whitby. so i have bought her a whitby jet pendant (she's forever talking about it lol) and would like to buy her some nice dressed crab as well.

now up until monday i would have gone to McLeishes in the town as their fish were lovely but unfortunatly they have gone into administration (so sad!) so i thinkk i will need to order them- does anyone have any reccommendations?

I buy a lot of my fish and shellfish from Morrisons or Mcleish<sob> so maybe try Morrisons

oh, do they do a dressed crab? i've never seen one in a super market before.

Have seen dressed crab in our Morrisons before, so worth a try, i have rang them in the past & they have got things in for me.

Why don't you phone up some of the fishmongers in Arbroath, it would be lovely & fresh.  I always have my doubts about supermarket fish.

There are Arbroath fish vans that travel round the streets of Dundee a couple of days each week selling out the back of the van, so maybe you'd find one?  AND I know the fishmonger at the top of Albert Street close to the junction of Dura St. etc does dressed crab as my mum has bought it from there!   And his brother is a fisherman so it's fresh!

Waitrose do a lovely Dressed Cromer crab on their fish counter, we usually have one most Saturdays.

If all else fails, I think you'd get a dressed crab at M&S too.

ah! of course! m+s can always be relied upon :)

Make sure you pull back the cover in M&S, one of theirs they put hard boiled egg in the middle, you don't see it unless you pull the cardboard cover back.

I am not a fan of morrisons for the price range but if my fishmonger didn't stock something I would go to  morissons fish counter and ask for it to be orderes as they are great for fresh fish and also their butcher counter
