- By Wiltshireone [gb] Date 16.01.09 16:19 UTC
crazy digging going on and moving from her bed to whelping box. Lots of panting and staring. She is trying to sleep but its not really happening.
So here we go....

Oh, and i suddenly have a pug with a straight tail, hilarious!

Just got video camera out to film her nesting behaviour. I bet thats the last time it gets to see the light of day today!!!!
- By PippaJ [in] Date 16.01.09 16:31 UTC

- By cornishmals [gb] Date 16.01.09 17:50 UTC
Forget the video camera I want a Pug cam so I can watch!!!Good luck.
- By Wiltshireone [gb] Date 16.01.09 17:55 UTC
Pug cam would be great but not sure when it all kicks off i would remember!

Just filmed her lying next to me and there is a very wriggly pup moving massivly in her belly, close to the surface. So clear i got it on video camera.

She is sleeping at the moment then goes through panting and scratching.......

anything? im all in suspense now, cant wait to hear what happens!!
- By Wiltshireone [gb] Date 16.01.09 20:50 UTC
Hi

God this is terrifying!

She just wanted to go poop so took her out in the garden and she strained and strained and i was freaking in case a pup appeared but lots of mucus. She is getting quite frantic now so i think we are moving forward. I just saw a pup move and her bits moved at the back so they must be close.

The only thing is she wants to sit on my lap and i can feel activity going on, she cant give birth on me!!!

We are on our way, i will keep in touch.
- By Papillon [gb] Date 16.01.09 20:52 UTC

- By goldengirl Date 16.01.09 21:42 UTC
Peppapug - my girl gave birth to a litter of ten pups sitting on my lap, I sat in the whelping box with her and every time a pup was about to be born she got on my lap and and thats where they were all born. PJ's and dressing gown went straight in the bin.
Good Luck hope all goes well.

Well I'm off to bed, will hope to see good news tomorrow :-)
- By Wiltshireone [gb] Date 16.01.09 22:59 UTC
she seems not to be progressing from stage 1. The puppies are going mad inside and she just keeps on panting and resting.

Gonna try and get my head down but this being the 4th night of sleeping with her i am so tired i am afraid i might sleep through it!!!!

Love her she has been trembling and looking so worried
- By JeanSW Date 16.01.09 23:02 UTC
If she is trembling and looking worried, just consider the possibilty of inertia.  I don't think you can afford to get your head down!!
- By Wiltshireone [gb] Date 16.01.09 23:10 UTC
no i had thought of that but she seems quite relaxed and as for sleeping, not a chance! Unlike her who seems to be sleeping through, apart from her fast breathing and the odd move from whelping box to sofa and back again, taking it in her stride.

She is a pug so her face tends to look a tad worried!!!

Glad people are still out there.....
- By JeanSW Date 16.01.09 23:22 UTC
It's a difficult time for anyone who cares, and I think you'll find that quite a few are rooting for you!!  It's like walking a tightrope isn't it?!!!!
- By perrodeagua [gb] Date 17.01.09 00:31 UTC
Have to say that if the pups are moving around as much as you are saying I wouldn't be expecting them to be born yet.  They always seem to go still before they are born in my experience or should I say you can't really see them moving about.
- By newfiedreams Date 17.01.09 00:40 UTC
Good grief...I think we need to ban all puppy and whelping talk on here till after the event!! It's killing us all!

They take you to beyond and back! I have found stage 1 can last 48 hours...even longer! I too, wouldn't expect imminent delivery until the pups settle...at the moment they're all jockeying for numero uno position!

Good luck, we're all thinking of you!
- By Wiltshireone [gb] Date 17.01.09 00:42 UTC
How long should i let her sleep with heavy breathing and intermittent nesting and restlessness? We have been going since 4pm and still no contractions.

She is not typical for enertia but equally dont want to go too long and put her at risk.

Her tummy is hard and tense.
- By newfiedreams Date 17.01.09 00:58 UTC
I'm afraid I am not experienced enough for your Breed to advise you...hopefully someone else can??? I've never had a litter with inertia and I pray to God I never do, I get frantic enough as it is! Luckily I have always had help on the end of a phone that are sensible enough to stop me panicking! Sorry!
- By Blue Date 17.01.09 01:55 UTC
The staring is usually the sign they are on their way.

Did you continue taking her temp,  this is m valuable tool. Did you get a good drop at some point?

Re the digging, I find the do all the digging etc then they have a deep deep sleep , then the puppies start to arrive.

Good luck , I am sure if you have any doubt you'll ring the vet.

You should have had your sleep a over the last few days, now you will be knackered..
- By Papillon [gb] Date 17.01.09 06:54 UTC
Any news?
- By Wiltshireone [gb] Date 17.01.09 08:08 UTC
Hi, just back from the vets. 14 hours later she is exhausted and panting still but no contractions. She has had a scan and an oxytocin injection and if no contractions or production by 10.30am then csection.

She is heavily panting now and keeps wanting to go outside to poop but it is diarreah now and no volume cause she hasnt eaten for 24 hours.

i think we both just want to see the pups the vet just saw looking so healthy on the scan. I was glad he didnt go straight to section however i read oxytocin shouldnt be administered until at least one puppy had been born. Any views?

A very tired,

Me x
- By Papillon [gb] Date 17.01.09 08:10 UTC
Hi ya, one of mine had oxytocin before the first one and it helped to open her up and the first one popped out shortly after that, you and she must be soooo tired now.
- By Snoop Date 17.01.09 08:12 UTC
You must both be exhausted. Hope things happen soon :)
- By Wiltshireone [gb] Date 17.01.09 08:14 UTC
yeh its been a long night but there is a lot to be said for adrenalin!

She has just put herself back on the sofa and gone to sleep. the vet was worried we wouldnt make it home before the first one!
- By Papillon [gb] Date 17.01.09 08:16 UTC
With luck it'll all happen pretty soon now but if not she will be fine with a ceasar, the girls seem to get over the op remarkably quickly, will keep looking in to see how things are going.
- By Wiltshireone [gb] Date 17.01.09 08:19 UTC
Thanks Papillon, you have been a real support.....as has this board!!! x
- By Papillon [gb] Date 17.01.09 08:20 UTC
Were all rooting for you and the mum, it'll all be worth it very soon :-)
- By snomaes [gb] Date 17.01.09 09:07 UTC
Oxytocin is safe to give before a puppy is born, as long as the bitch is fully dilated.

Good luck!
