Has anyone ever had any dealings with the NSW kennel/canine council? I am having a pup in joint ownership in NSW, and it will leave the UK in joint names (mine and his) on the export certificate, however the canine council there say I cant part own it as Im not a member ($135 a year!) Had anyone else come across this? I am having conversations with them about it but it seems extreme and am keen to hear if anyone else has had similar issues with them please.

Ouch! :-)  I wonder if it is like in the UK, registration with the KC being one thing and actual ownership and possesion something else?  In which case could it possibly be dealt with by registering it only in your NSW partners name but having a written contract determining joint ownership, breeding rights etc.  You would not get the kudos of show wins perhaps but then your kennel affix will display the breeding anyway.

My Ch. Spanish is owned in both my name and his breeders in Spain here in the UK.

yes you can do it here, no problem, but im wondering if anyone else has a joint owned dog in australia as that seems to be the country where its the problem

many countries do require you to be a member of their KC to be able to show. So that may be their rule

            Had a couple of replies and yes it is correct

Its the same in New Zealand, you have to be a member of the KC before you can register pups etc.
