Would anyone buy their dog a doggy birthday cake. My neighbour is buying one for her 1 year old dog, sounds a bit nutty to me. So would anyone buy their dog one?

I know, She has a weak heart, lung function is poor, her eyesight and hearing are not what they used to be. But she still has a fantastic zest for life. She really is wonderful. When I moved out of mums house into my own, she was the first to join me and we have been together ever since. She was quite poorly when I got her as a 12 week old pup too. I know that the time that we have left together is now limited but whilst she still has the quality of health that she currently has, and does not get to the point where I think that she will let me know the time has come, she will continue to be treated like the princess that she really and truly is!! Hopefully we have a few years left yet and I try not to think about it too much cos Im a big soft pudding when it comes to her and I get really upset!!

Totally agree, would also keep her going as long as she is enjoying life,I adore poodles, had a toy when I was a kid, sadly he only lasted 14 years, just fab little dogs they are.

If im honest when I got her I was looking for a German Shepherd!!! I responded to an ad in the local paper and met up with a woman at Aber (something) station. She was in a risty old mini clubman and in the back had 4 pups, 3 GSD's and a ball of what looked like rags sat in the corner shivering. Without hesitation I said I was taking her and I paid £200 for her just to get her out of where she was!! That was an awful lot of money to me 19 years ago too!!!!!  I would not dream of letting this happen these days, but I was young, green and believe it or not, quite shy at the time!! She was caked in S**t, riddled with worms and generally in a very poor condition. I would say it took a good 12 months of care and attention to get her health back to the way it should have been, but do you know what? I am a great believer in fate, And I believe that fate took me there to meet my best friend that day. Apart from the odd holiday abroard, we have been inseperable since. If it all happened again tomorrow I would do exactly the same, only this time I would make sure that the breeder paid for having a pup in this condition!!!!  I have four dogs in my house, 3 great danes and Tilly the toy poodle. They all live with me in the house and I can quite honestlly say that tilly is the boss, out of all of us!!!!

Oh my goodness, its a wonder she's made it this far after such a poor start, she must be something really special, they are strong little charachters arent they, our toy came to live with us in a house full of 6 children, two parents and various numbers of foster children some of whom were not the best behaved kids in the world, my poodle took it all in his stride and absolutely revelled in all the chaos, he was so good he taught all the chidren not so nice to dogs that even tiny dogs wont stand for being pulled around lol, like your dog he was an absolute cracker and I've very fond memories of him to :-)

Does doggysnackshack have these doggy cakes on his stand, or is it mail order only. Anyone know. :)
- By Papillon [gb] Date 10.01.09 17:54 UTC
I havent seen the cakes on the stand but there again I wasnt looking for cakes so I cant really answer for sure, just get in touch with him, he'll soon tell you.
- By Tricolours [gb] Date 10.01.09 17:59 UTC
I emailed him yesterday but he has not replied yet.
- By Papillon [gb] Date 10.01.09 18:00 UTC
He might be at a show today, whenever I've e.mailed him he's got back after a day or so.
- By Astarte Date 10.01.09 18:08 UTC
i didn't see the cakes at crufts (morning day 1 as well) and i'm sure i'd have remembered them.

i should think you could work out a recipe fairly easily. maybe along the lines of a vegan cake? liver cake works which is just flour, water, garlic, liver and eggs.

i would think something like flour, water, eggs, carrot etc would be fine.
