Someone i know makes cushions & other things with dogs on, she is thinking on selling them at local dog shows. So im asking on her behalf, how much does it cost to hire a table (or she can bring her own) at a local dog show. She wouldnt be able to afford a dog show like crufts so she thought she would start small. Can anyone help please.

My friend pays anywhere between £10 and £20 at local open shows for her stall (2 tables) with embroidery and bedding.

usually two six foot tables in which ever configuration she wants if space allows.  But she normally has it an L shape.

Usually around £15.00 although with the way things are at the moment I wonder if the charge may go up.

Why do you say that perrodeagua?  surely with people cutting back & not spending as much as they used too, the price should either come down or stay the same.

If you know in advance of a society printing there schedules that you are going to have your stall there ask the secretary if they can put a note in the schedule, this gives exhibitors the opportunity to take more cash with them if they want to buy.

When I go to the local open shows I only ever have money for lunch, raffle and maybe a couple of £'s extra just in case, but wouldnt normally take enough to purchase a great deal from stalls.

£15 to £20 at local open shows, the reason the cost may go up is because the cost of venues goes up as they become more and more difficult to find. So many council run halls are now banning the use by dogs, not for any reason except the dreaded health & safety regulations, they seem to think a hall used for a dog show on Saturday will infect anyone using the hall on Monday with some sort of incurable disease, the church are also of this opinion.

Wouldn't think that many society's use or rely on renting to one to two wee stalls at there shows to boost the income.  I know that some we have at our shows are charity and usually get there space at no charge and they themselves decide to donate a prize to the raffle.  As space is limited at most open shows you will very rarely get more than 2 stalls anyway.   Many come to the shows and are lucky to cover costs on some days as many people don't carry a lot of cash with them, and they have to compete with the society raffle / tombola for the £'s that are there.

You would be surprised the raffle and 3 or 4 stalls can make all the difference to some clubs and societies, the difference to covering their costs or making a loss. To have a few stalls at your show is the same as sub letting, and yes we accept charity stalls as well.  Have a friend who has a dog bed stall and most of their income is from showing their goods at shows and taking orders, on the spot money is not required, however food stalls and equipment is normally bought at the show and if people require such things they bring the necessary money or a card with them.

I say that due to everything else going up at the moment, including the cost of entering at shows.  Would very much doubt that societies would put the cost down myself.

Hi, dont know if your friend has thought of it but I do a stall at various events and some organisers want to see a copy of insurance before they will accept booking, mainly 3rd party in case someone falls over your table or if your gazebo thing falls on them, very few if any will cover stalls on their own policy.
I rang a bunch of brokers and got quotes for '6 events in year @ £200+'
ended up with 'National Market Traders' at about £60 for unlimited per year.
