I'm sure this is not the first time PETA has had a stab at this.  Very clever with the photograph! :-(

I will definately be watching Westminster, even if I have to do it online at the Westminster Kennel Club Website!

PETA  has asked this of the TV stations before, and they never listened, always airing the WKCDS each year.  But what we see with the BBC pulling Crufts coverage, this year may be different.

Hopefully, I will be able to sit infront of the TV and watch the WKCDS, all 6 hours of it.  (Then head to the website to watch the breed judging!).

As one poster, on the comments after the article stated, breeders do have healthier dogs.  Spending upwards of $3000 per dog (some tests having to be done annually - or even twice a year) I dont see people breeding doodles do that.

The picture, OMG, there are so many wonderful pictures of UNO, the 15 inch beagle who won Westminsters Best in Show last year, and they choose this one, where he looks deformed and nasty!  Clever.

I want to see Westminster this year, just like I have watched it every year since I was young, with hopes of being there one day myself.

This is Jemima's response to PETA. Not a happy bunny, what does she expect though she is happy for the BCC, RSPCA to jump on the band wagon ofcourse the less desirable are going to.

How strange :confused:  She gave PETA all the fodder they needed after all, inbred unhealthy mutants bred by irresponsible, selfish, money grabbing egotistical nazi lowlife ....

Anyone involved with or supporting the PDE documentary has a nerve referring to a similarly wreckless ill thought cult as 'extremist'

Exactly, surely this was not a surprise ofcourse PETA types are going to support them, if she didn't want to be assoicated from PETA types and others she should have presented the documentary in a more balanced showing both sides of the story. (Oh yeah I forgot that makes rubbish tv, actually reporting the truth)!

the quote the uk's answer to westminster made me smile, i went out to westminster a couple of years ago, loved newyork, even in all the snow westminster has a long way to go before it is as good as crufts.

well the aritcles full of poop but i have to say the american public appear somewhat more sensible than ours! i'd say about half of the comments are ripping the article and giving the kind f answers we would, where as over here its usually far less.

Oh for heavens sake, can't a dog even shake itself now without the press claiming it's deformed!!!! :-(
- By ice_queen Date 11.01.09 09:22 UTC
Is it just me who looks at the photo, smiles, and see's typical film clip, normally shown in slow motion of dog slobbering everywhere!!!!!  I can't see hhow a dog shaking would even = deformed....just poor lead posture on the dog ;)

I agree,I think the photo is rather clever ,made me smile too :)

From Bertbeagles link;

> the reason we made the film, is that we believe pedigree dogs are of tremendous value to society and that something needs to be done to arrest the damage caused by decades of inbreeding and selection for 'beauty'.

is this a contridiction?  They want purebreds but only want to "outcross" Which many people believe will only bring in problems.  afterall MOST lines that line breed have few peoblems because they were bred out many generations ago :)
