'Yawning' is a sign of stress, wheher that's physical or mental. I'd take it as a sign that she's aware something strange is happening and it bothers her.

You must be like a wet rag.
Boxer whelpings are notoriously long - with hour upon hour of 'sawing wood' as I call it... the perpetual panting drives me mad.
Well as they say " what goes up -must come down".
Good luck and maybe get on ebay for a stethoscope for next time. :-)
My OH ( who's pretty good with one) tells me quite accurately how many and how they are doing. It is especially useful during active labour to check how the pups are coping.

Oh my goodness, could this be it :-)

Am leaving for a show early tomorrow but hopefully will get a chance to look in before I go.
Yvonne.

I've just read through this whole thread - oh my goodness, how exciting/nerve wracking! Good luck and wishing for good news real soon.

Hoping for some good news in the morning, fingers crossed!!

Sad I know, but the pupster called me at 6.30am to be let out for a wee and poo,so thought I would have a quick fix of the saga.Fingers crossed.Jude.
OMG Cornish even me and little miss were not up at that time. Well D Day (i.e Day 63) and to update, she slept like a log once again and watch the volcano belly most of the evening, even getting OH to come see so I was sure I was not going mad! Her Temp this morning is slightly down at 36.8 (usually around 37.5) and having just been upstairs to get dressed came down to two sofas turned over!!!!!
Am calling vets to get an appt today if poss, keep you posted.
Pap - hope the show went well, how did you get on?

When we had a singleton nearly 2 years ago - after being told our girl wasn't even pregnant, labour didn't start, so as soon as day 63 came off we went for a c-section, a lovely 1lb healthy little girl was born - of course of which we kept. Her temp dropped and all the usual signs that something would happen soon, but it just never went any further, so we didn't want to risk waiting any longer. Fingers crossed for a good outcome, will check back later.
Good luck

Vets at 12.30 but dare not go as it will be D day whateve with cofirmation either way, still signs of clear discharge! Next update should be conclusive.
Thanks for the post Sharon, hopeing for the same! She is not looking so large this morning so perhaps it has moved up into the pelvis? Did you ever see ab movement witht he singleton?

Good luck ,fingers crossed for you and your girl.

Sending you, all good wishes and luck for today....x
~Still here Rooting!~

Ohh bummer...we went down to see kids and grandkids yesterday and hoped to come home to some news today! Ahh well, will have to wait a little longer I guess...I think Taggabags is getting ready for a couple of weeks in recovery in the Priory!!! ;-)

Just went to take some pics of my puppies with their eyes open for new mums &dads hoped for news when I came back downstairs.Really hope its good news.
Well guys not looking like good news just back from vets. The vet was very throrough first with an internal and the cervix is no where near open! He palpated for some time then said should scan, it took absoloutely ages but he came back and said that he could not find any trace that the pup was viable and he had tried to xray but she would not lie still so he has the scan to go on. He said he felt 80/20 that the pup had indeed died. I asked about what the scan showed in terms of puppy and he said he would have hoped to have seen more for a live pup but he saw the skull and spine but not a heartbeat. He did not want to C Section as IF there was a viable pup it would be more risky to C Section now and with her only on day 63. So what he has said is to leave her be as she may expel herself or indeed deliver a live pup but he was doubtful. I have an appointment booked for Wednesday which will be Day 67 for an elective ceasarean unless she expells before or whelps or if she appears unwell in any way! So not good news I am afraid, a little tiny bit of hope in that he said that vets are not expert scanners but he had done the best he could and maintains an 80/20 split that diagnosis is correct. Will keep you updated if anytning extraordinary happens or on Weds following the section as the conclusion may help others in same situation.
Appreciate the invaluable support from you all guys!

Aww, I am so sad for you. Let's hope that tiny bit of a possibility is right and she makes them wrong.
((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))) to you and Mum
Thanks Pippa, so long as little lady comes out the other end ok thats my priority. Thankfully sleeping nicely after eventful visit to vets, good result now will be for her to expel the little mite rather than the section.
N

If your vet saw a spine and skull on scan, why would he need to try and x-ray?
Scan confirmed our singleton pup on the Friday, my vet told us had the pup not been born by the monday which was day 63 from her mating, then he would give her a c-section. When did you last feel movement from the pup?? Don't give up hope yet.

Still rooting for you and your girl, hopfully all will be fine.Fingers crossed.Jude

Oh no taggabags you've had your hopes (and all ours) dashed again :-( I do so hope there is a slim possibility of a live puppy still, at least your girl is well and thats the main thing, thanks for asking about the show, one boy got third and his dad last place, it was at an equestrian centre and bitterly cold, we had to hang around for hours before we were in the ring, both my boys had coats on and three thick fleece blankets in their cage but still they got so cold they didnt fancy showing, anyway thats minor news to yours, will still keep looking in until there is a conclusion one way or the other for you and your girl.

> it took absoloutely ages but he came back and said that he could not find any trace that the pup was viable
Vets are notoriously bad at ultrasonography so keep your options open and your chin up :-)
I must admit the chap I saw today was very honest in stating that vets are not trained sonagraphers! I appreciated his honesty and shall sit with just a small glimmer of hope!
Thanks toolz
Hi Pap - God I miss the showing! I have a younger bitch just a year which I hobby show i.e. do not take too seriously but have been at the shows for around 10 years now and dabbled in judging at Open shows which I enjoy. I have 5 dogs here all are pets which I have shown at some stage! We are qualified for Crufts with our youngest so have that to look forward to. Will consider breeding my younger lady in a couple of years but shall aim to get some showing in this year! Pending pups has put a hold on all of that as I have none entered, once this saga is concluded can start getting back on track and OMG have work on Monday!!! (luckily work from home) so if little miss as a C section she can recover comfortably in my office with me!
Sorry to hear how cold the show was, those equestrian and agricultural centres are notoriously cold even in teh summer! Well done on your placings!
Best wishes
Good point Sharon, not sure why he wanted to x ray - should have asked although I think he said an x ray would have told him more rather than a scan at such a late stage? Last saw movement last night as with every night, just one side. How did it go with your singleton scan and c section?
Regards

Thanks taggabags, just thawing out now with a hot coffee lol, I would miss showing to if I didnt go every now and again, it certainly gets into your blood thats for sure,
Good you have one to go to Crufts with, I have one as well, am so looking forward to being there with a dog instead of just watching and shopping lol (will still be shopping though!)
Anyway lets hope something happens this evening or tomorrow and you'll know either way instead of wondering, catch you soon :-)

Just seen this thread, I know what your going through taggabags, i had the same situtation last year, singleton puppy, no heartbeat, vet was sure the puppy was mummified, this was the monday evending (day 62) so my bitch was booked in for a C-section on Tuesday 8th Jan 2008. (Somedates you never forget) I hadn't seen any movement, the bitch was only slighly larger on her left side. Having slept most the day on the monday she started digging madly in the whelping box, spoke to the vet who's advice was be prepared to take the body away but much kinder to let her whelp normally than go through with the C-section.
Billy No Mates, was born very much alive and breathing at 11:45 that evening, and has the biggest personalilty i have ever met (maybe from being spoilt by us and the other dogs).
Big Hugs being sent to you and hoping for a miracle for you both.

Oh that's lovely spitze, there is still reason to hope then, love the "billy no mates" name for your baby :-)
Would love a Billy No Mates mark II! Sounds very similar, lets hope hey?
Regards Spitze
I had a singleton pup many years ago. I did see some movement before he was born. He was a big pup but was born naturally. Keeping everything crossed for you and your girl xx

I was told that the last puppy to be born from my Miranda's first litter would be mummified as it had died a few days before (She'd whelped 13 up to this point) so the vet gave her an oxytocin injection to expel it assuring us they'd be lots of time to get home to prepare for Miranda giving birth. We were only a matter of minutes away when she whelped a puppy, very much alive & very much the largest pup in the litter - as she was born in the back of my VW Polo she was nicknamed Polo!

whooooo Blimey, this uns' keeping us on tenterhooks what!
*Wheels in a big industrial sized urn of Hot Chocolate, starts passing out mugs to all those camped out here!*

i know, i keep popping in every few hours to see how things are progressing. everything crossed here for a happy outcome!!

Keeping everything crossed for you ;)

I've been following this thread, just wanted to say am keeping everything crossed. Twice I've had kittens born alive after the vet stated they were all dead. In the first case all 4 born alive, in the second case 3 born alive with 4 afterbirths and no signs of the fourth so one had indeed died earlier on. I know that isn't dogs but it shows what can happen!

I'm checking this thread regularly too.
Hope things are ok this morning Taggabags - got everything crossed for you.

I think we've got to the stage that we all have maternity rights if a puppy appears!!! ;-)
I thought waiting for your own pups to appear was stressful! This one leads us to another dimension!
Hope everything is ok...

Morning all at the little miss supporter club! All is well as far as the bitch is concerned, slept like a log other than the bed digging at around 4am once again, went on for ages so had me going but appears she was just making herself comfortable! Temp normal, no other signs and as routine has just had a dig at the carpet behind the sofa as she has done routinely for the past 10 days! Appreciate the support from you all and either way all over by Wednesday. Will be sure to post if anything happens!
Regards
