hi my freinds dog was mated on the 23rd/24th of december and had two good matings however her girl is still in season and is still turning her tail and wondered if this is normall or should she of stopped doing this or be out of season by now. the owner of the boy and breeder of her bitch (both the same person) is gone away for a couple of days hence why she cant ask so though i would ask for any help on here

Hard to say...what day of her season was she on when she was mated? I've known bitches ready to mate on day 8-9 and then again others on days 22-23! It's a bit like how long is a piece of string...I think the answers come with experience(of the bitch, not general experience!) I know some bitches that stay 'frisky' thoughout their pregnancy due to the changes in the hormones! Bitches do continue to lose lightly for a week or so after mating...try getting the 'Book of the Bitch' an invaluable source of infomation and the 'Bible' of Breeding!

Well ours was mated day 12 and 14 and showed in season for a week after. We had a lovely healthy litter of 12.

hi thanks just finding out some more info before posting. she was mated on day 14 & 15 approx as she keeps herself so clean she isnt as swollen now as she was last week but is still turning her tail and wondered if this was normall behaviour. she has book of the bitch but sais nothing in there about this thanks

Many bitches will allow mating for a week or more.  I would never consider her season finished until everything closes down and flirty behaviour has stopped.

Yes it is....mine aren't really flirty...just full on 'get me'!!! What tarts I have tut...they show me right up...and me being a good Christian girl an' all!
