My 4 week old puppy has started with diarrhoea he has only had 2 episodes where he looks like he is having a poo and it has been very loose he otherwise looks fit and well he is eating well, playing with the others and drinking all with no problems. I am feeding them all on raw previously frozen mince and soaked puppy food do you think that it is the altrernating between foods that has caused it or should I be worried I dont want to take him to the vets unnecessarily so I dont expose him to any more germs than he needs to. Any advice greatly appreciated.
Hi Poppyspot
How many feeds are they on now? Once they have taken to the idea of eating I stop adding the raw mince and just use the puppy food, soaked in water. If he is little runny you could try giving him some mashed hard boiled eggs or some live yogurt. Their little tummys are so tiny at this stage that they easily get a little runny. As long as he is well in himself (making sure he is gaining weight) I would try this and if no improvement then call your vet.
Hope he's soon over the runs.
Hi
Five feeds a day at the moment and mum is still feeding them milk, will mum dry up on her own in time or do I need to take her to the vets for an injection to assist??

Mom will dry up on her own- eventually she will feed them less and less especially since you have them started on solid food-
Yes the milk gradually eases off but she'll probably still have a little milk when the pups leave - it will just dry up.
