Just in addition to what Christine put about how to stop dog people talking dogs in their tracks is to start talking about cat showing.

I just wondered if there any cat shows coming up soon in the south? I am interested in learning more about a couple of breeds. We currently have 2 moggies who won't live much longer(said the same thing last year) due to tumors and their age.
Looking into Norweigan Lynx Forest cat or a Maine Coon.. I just wondered if anyone can point me into the place to keep up to date on cats shows. Just want to speak in person to people who own these cats, its one things reading about them, but to speak to those who own/breed them in person is a different story.

Have a look here or here

I love Norwegian Forest Cats & the Maine Coons, but the Siberians are crummy & are not unlike my two moggies, Reg & Jack,I've also got friends with Bengals & Tonkenese(sp), the only cats I don't like are the bald ones ;-)

At GCCF shows, the public aren't usually allowed in until 12.30 so bear that in mind.  I had a good day last Saturday at West of Scotland with my new Selkirk Rex kitten, Cobweb winning BOB and then later Best Of Variety British kitten.   The rosettes alone make cat showing a lot better than dog showing - I came away with 6 rosettes, the BOV rosette is bigger than my cat! - and a very nice Royal Canin holdall!

I think Maidstone & Medway is on this coming weekend at Gillingham.

I can recommend a good Maine Coon breeder in the south (Kent) if you want -my husband has a cat she bred and she's bound to be happy to talk to you about the breed.

Well done Christine :-D  I do miss the variety classes and all those rosettes :-)  Your kitten is gorgeous!

At our second Ch Show (Dogs) my bitch went CC and BOB - where was OH?  out sleeping in the car!!  everyone was scandalised he wasn't watching, but then he'd only been to cat shows LOL  (and we weren't expecting to be placed LOL ) but a friend went out and frogmarched OH back to watch the group LOL  They just didn't understand that he wasn't being nasty, just used to a different way of doing things LOL   He wouldn't dare do it now tho ;)
